87 and 06 DCA prelims...worst rain conditions I've ever performed under (87 was a bit wetter, but 06 was FAR colder).

As far as heat goes...84 BD Memorial weekend camp comes to mind...we'd dip towels in cool water, drape them over ourselves....and you could WATCH them dry out before your eyes.

03 Loomis, CA show was a bad heat during rehearsal day...Africa Hot, as Lee Rudnicki described it.

Worst one was 05 Sacramento....again, during rehearsal. A quote from soprano Art Hood pretty much defines it: "Man it's hot! And when a black man from Arizona says it's hot...."

2 rain shows stick out

Carlisle, PA Sr show in the late 80s/early 90s.....

1) Steel City playing "Stormy Weather" during a not so bad part of the rain and crowd half groaning/half laughing. Then the real downpour startd.....

2) Sister had a friend from Germany at the show. That evening he pulled out his wallet and water was dripping from it....

1985 ICA Championships - Erie. PA.....

1) Had a brand new Aussie hat and the rain washed the shiny "dots" off the hat. With a black uni looked like I has really bizarre dandruff.

2) 1st anniversary of a friend and he talked his wife into going to the show. Well... she didn't like me much before the show and hated me afterwards.....

2006 DCA Prelims - Ernesto carved a path from the South all the way to Rochester, NY just in time for Alliance to take the field. Bitter cold, rain coming down sideways.

Drum major gets the "Alliance you may take the field in competition" and two seconds later. "Alliance get off of the field!!!" Tornado warning and the rain just got worse after that. Not the best of conditions AT ALL. Three members of the corps have hypothermia and one is taken to a waiting ambulance because he could hardly move.

Yea, let's not ever do that again.

So, what you're saying then, is that DCA Prelims & Finals should be held in a dome. Gotcha

Oh yeah... 1975 DCA Finals....

Long story short a 3 corps race going into last week of season....

Night before corps members were sitting on the blacktop on the practice field parking lot to stay warm. Prelims not too bad but halfway thru Finals Rochester Crusaders get chased off the field as rain kicked in during their opening number. After a delay, rest of corps come out to a wet field and lots of guesses who that would hurt the most. Somewhere along the way it's announced Retreat would be DM only.

Rest of corps do their show and heavens open up.... DM retreat turns into half the crowd getting drenched listening to the scores while watching an empty field. And of course a freezing bus as the drivers had the AC up full to keep the windows from fogging up....

Heard gripes about how things would have been different with a dry field for years...

Jeez... just remembered coming back from a standstill show in Lodi, NJ in early 77(?). Rain in Joisey and sleet in half of PA. Bus had to stop for an accident on I-81 right by the exit I would have taken to get home (had to ride another 15 miles). As the bus is sitting there we realize the freakin' bus is sliding off the road. Fortunately the slide stopped when the back wheels went off on the bearm.

Several:

Madison Scouts in Jackson in '93

Ernesto in 2006 at DCA prelims in Rochester

2004 Denver, either Spartans or East Coast Jazz (forget which) were performing in what was at the time Div II/III championships when lightning was spotted in the area; judges ran off the field and tried to get the corps to stop, and they ignored them & finished their show

Forget the year, Plymouth MA "America's Hometown Thanksgiving" Parade-Temp just above freezing, POURED and start time of parade was delayed, recall seeing busses getting stuck in the field where parade lines up. When parade finally did start, our corps came around the last bend and the wind off the ocean hit us full on. Bass drum line were like sailboats. Following year, bright sun and shirtsleeve weather.

Heh....that reminded me of 87 MBI...there'd been a SMALL break in the weather at DCA, but when they started playing "Come in From the Rain" it started again!
