santacarolinascouts
There wasn't a percussion judge; the music analysis and percussion scores are the same. Assuming that there was a percussion judge though, Crown probably would have been about .8 to 1.2 behind BD, which means that they still would have won by between .150 and .350 points
DrumManTx
For everyone poo-pooing the lack of the percussion judge, here's my recap math. Someone correct me if I made any mistakes, I don't usually play around with this stuff, but I was curious. • Crown got an 18.9 in Music Analysis tonight, and BD got an 18.8. Music Analysis was copied to Percussion, which gets divided by 2 going into the total score, so Percussion contributed only 0.05 points to Crown's winning margin of 0.8 • So excluding percussion, Crown beat BD by 0.75. For BD to have won if there were a percussion judge, they would need to have been on top in drums by 0.75 * 2 = 1.5 points. • The last three times Crown and BD went head to head, at Atlanta, Charlotte, and Murfreesboro, BD won percussion by 0.8, 1.0, and 1.1, respectively. So unless the trend of Crown's percussion vs BD's was dramatically reversed in the last two days since Atlanta..... Crown very likely would've won tonight regardless. EDIT: looks like I've already been scooped by a couple people on that. Should've known better than to try and compete with the DCP recap analyzing machine! Yup, Crown still on top regardless. That Music GE spread is where the story is at. Wow.
CDUB
Yup, Crown still on top regardless. That Music GE spread is where the story is at. Wow. How is ge scored? I feel like once the show is written there can't be much change in ge scores. I could never figure that caption out.

I'd have to check out the rubric. But with rewrites and such, that can effect scoring in the content subcaption. Also, if they're performing better, things that were covered up by dirt can be noticed that weren't previously. And there are MANY other factors. CrownStarr
How is ge scored? I feel like once the show is written there can't be much change in ge scores. I could never figure that caption out. Well, there are tiny (and major) adjustments to the show made all season long that can affect GE. Music changes, drill adjustments, new guard work, tempo bumps. Plus there is language in the GE sheets that recognizes things like "communication" and "audience engagement" that can change based on the performance night to night. I don't know if those are the right words, but I've seen the rubric posted on here before, maybe someone has it.

IMcomguy
Yup, Crown still on top regardless. That Music GE spread is where the story is at. Wow. Not the first time though, they've been a half a point up already on BD in Music GE at a couple shows previous to this (including major regionals). It is exciting that they're rewarding the insanity that this show is GE-wise. Now if the brass judges would have the nads the percussion judges do and quit with the .1, .2 spreads........ call it like it should be.
Notrevo
Meaningless my ###. Crown has not lost percussion by 1.6 all year, that is stupid to say. Even if you count Atlanta as a gauge, then only take away 0.4. Crown is starting to run away with Music GE, and rightfully so. I'm glad the panels are starting to recognize the significant difference between these two programs from a music effect (and flat out demand standpoint). Amen!
