I hadn't seen Blue Knights (live or on video) until last night. Did the P.A. announcer (Brad Bell) speak too early at the end of the show, or do they deliberately, because of their "No End" theme, have him give the closing announcement before they're actually done?

It did seem somewhat uncomfortable to me as well, tho' the placed announcement could be the intent.

Just watched video of the end of BK's show at Atlanta and the same thing happened: Brandt Crocker intoned "Under the direction of Mark Arnold, the Blue Knights" after their last big push, but they have a subsequent soft ending that lasts another 45 seconds.

The awards were presented by various Lake Erie Fanfare notables ... and their families. The award for second place was presented to the Blue Knights by a mother and carried by her very young son, probably just four years old or so. He was frightened, and hiding behind his mom, so the BK drum major took off his hat and got down on his knees to appear less imposing. Adorable!

As gak27 noted in his review, several members of the Blue Knights tripped on their tarp, which late in the show was no longer laying completely flat but had bunched up.

First a tenor went down, falling to his knees. It took him a few seconds to get back on his feet, during which time the rest of the tenors very nearly tripped over him.

Then four trumpets in a row, as their arc worked across the tarp, all tripped and wobbled but did not fall.

The year the band I teach did a "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" show, we used a tarp with a big "Qi" on it...we swore to never again use any sort of tarp as a floor after THAT experience. What a royal pain in the butt that was. The parents who moved it to the field would rip off lots of foot-long pieces of duct tape and stick them all over their clothes before the show, and then use them to try and keep the edges of the tarp from folding over.
