MikeN
Benefits of an un-classical percussion education, I guess... Seen corps use these drums off and on for a decade now, starting with the Cadets in 2000, Cavaliers in 2002 and most recently the Madison Scouts a couple of years ago. Does anyone know the "official" name for these? Thanks! Mike

DrumManTx
Yup, that would be a surdo. Appears to be at least.
gbass598
Just to provide more additional information, it is a Brazilian Samba instrument. There are usually 2 of them in 2 different pitches to be used as the bass instrument in samba-reggae music.
