Why No TOC Cup Winner Coverage on DCI.org ...

Recommended Posts

how are they going to market their own circuit if they don't even have a website?

surely that is terrible planning...

It's not an independent circuit. MiM was shelved as part of the deal for the TOC to be carried under the DCI banner.

I can imagine that, if they do create their own circuit, their website will be incredible.

I think maybe it would be confusing to the casual fan a little bit. DCI is hyping the Championship week, and if they had a huge article hyping the "Tour of Champions Cup Champion" it might seem odd, and could confuse people into thinking that was the end of the season.

Sure, WE know that's not the case, but if, say, a HS kid went to DCI's site to see what was going on for Championships they might not know the difference

The TOC is no different than DCI was back in the 1970"s when they started. They thumbed their noses at drum corps and picked their 12 top corps and screw everyone else.

Either you wern't around then, not born then, or you have amnesia.

There was no G7 cabal in te 1970's that decided to set up there own collective group shows within the new DCI they created. There was no attempt to cut off any funding for the Open Class Corps. There was no attempt to demand their own hand picked judges within a subclass. There was no attempt to create a World Class Division Slotted System within the World Class Division set up by the new DCI. There was no attempt to double their future votes and strip others of votes they once had. There was no change of publicized rules for inclusion into their group after a Corps qualified, but then jettisoned their own rules to allow instead another unqualified Corps under their rules into their group over one that qualified. Once DCI was established there was no secret meetings behind closed doors by any self ordained group to effectively decide to run the whole DCI or threaten to leave if their half baked proposals wern't adopted by all the others. The Corps Directors that started DCI did not treat their fellow Corps with this level of disrespect,of extortion, of ultimatums, as did the G7 when they met in secret and in complete violation of DCI rules and established protocal. There was no transparancy with the G7 at all. The Founders of DCI, once they were up and running, did everything they could to establish collegiality, mutual respect, transparancy, and a spirit of cooperation among the Corps it INVITED to join DCI. The G7 actions are not to be compared to what the Founders actions were in establishing DCI, nor the wording of what the Founders of DCI and its Charter Member Corps put together as their Mission Statement of their core beliefs. That initial Mission Statement has fundamentally not been altered since the inception of DCI. All its accepted members agree to its provision, by laws, rules of protocol. The G7 could have been thrown out of DCI for such an agregious violation of that trust and protocol, and its attempt at extortion, threats and ultimatums of others. The G7 is not remotely close to the decency, sense of collegiality, sense of fairness of the people that founded DCI. They would be appalled at the actions of the G7 upon their fellow Corps. Please do not attempt to dishonor the honorable people that founded DCI with this small G7 cabal. They are talented and accomplished. Granted. But they seemed to have lost their moral compass with how they went about in secret to plot against their fellow Corps as they did. Shame on them.

Continuing coverage:

Here's an email from DCI announcing Open Class, Indy etc.

https://blu177.mail.live.com/mail/#n=519538527&fid=2&mid=07921fc1-ff9e-11e2-b5ab-00215ad7f138&fv=1

no such email after the TOC finale.

Lemme get this straight.

So you think that DCI should first cover the TOC, which has been viewed as a hostile move by most BEFORE THEIR OWN Open Class division? :huh2:
