"The"

Or, "Now presenting their 2015 performance, DCI is proud to present, a bunch of Bluecoats!"

That's better than a bunch of Turncoats :satisfied:

Obviously this thread is somewhat tongue in cheek, as it's not a huge deal. I just don't get why The Academy, Cadets, and Cavaliers get the "The" treatment, while other corps like Blue Devils, Blue Knights and Santa Clara Vanguard don't.

Brandt says "the" in front of their names when announcing them.

Just curious to me.

Even still, "the" should not factor into alphabetizing.

I don't mean to nit-pick (okyeahsomaybeido), but can we please drop "the" from the beginning of corps' names please?

Is there really any reason why The Academy and The Cadets and The Cavaliers are listed all the way down in The T's when looking for scores and such alphabetically?

And thus ends my pointless rant of the evening....

I've always preferred the name "Holy Name Cadets" myself...

"And now taking the field, DCI is proud to present...a Sundry Academy."

I like "And now, presenting their 2015 presentation The Power of Ten, some Cadets!"

Except that, if it were to be only some Cadets, then the show would probably have to change to "The Reduced Power of An Integer Less Than Ten."

I'm sorry, Serious...

It may appear that we are having a joke at your expense. I assure you -- we are not. (And by the way...I share your pain totally with the problem of reconciling alphabetizing with research. It can be a REAL pain in the butt at times...)

Is this a friday morning? I'm confused...to me right now, this seems like a lot of end-of-the-week fatigue setting in.

I'm The confused.

It's a quote from the 80s comedy The! Airplane! starring the one and only The Leslie Nielsen.
