DrumManTx
Find it interesting they pulled out of Minneapolis today and Waukee tomorrow and went straight to Oklahoma before their show in Broken Arrow next Wednesday. Both of those shows were definitely on the schedule at some point. That's a lot of time for some great rehearsals, cleaning, and changes heading into San Antonio. I'm excited to see what they are up to!
Zeke
Find it interesting they pulled out of Minneapolis today and Waukee tomorrow I thought the big gap between the Omaha Show and their next show on July 20 had been scheduled for a while now? DrumManTx
I thought the big gap between the Omaha Show and their next show on July 20 had been scheduled for a while now? I've been going off of the DrumScorps app, and it still has them performing at both. Guess I missed that.
Zeke
So the score they get the week or weekend before San Antonio will determine their performance grouping seeing that they skipped Minneapolis?
DrumManTx
Looks like they're having fun in Skiatook intermingling with the high school band members there. Probably picked up a few auditionees for next year doing that. :) Big test in Broken Arrow Wedn....tomorrow. Show is definitely a tier of Surf and Pioneer to my eye, just a question of performance levels, which from Periscope is starting to get elevated. Excited to see it! DrumManTx
Highest score by over a point since 2007 before they went inactive in 2008 yesterday. I know everyone is arguing about the top 3 right now, but congrats Cascades. It has been fun to watch the last three years!
81Freelancers
And they finished in the cellar again at Nationals. They need to move to Open and rebuild.
DrumManTx
And they finished in the cellar again at Nationals. They need to move to Open and rebuild. You obviously have not paid attention to them in recent years. After not fielding in 2008, they fielded again in 2009. From 2009 to 2013 they got smaller and smaller, weaker and weaker. In 2013 they ended up with probably around 50 to 60 members with a 4 - 6 member colorguard for Gods sake. 2009 - 22nd 2010 - 22nd 2011 - 24th 2012 - 25th 2013 - 27th In 2014, they gutted a lot of the staff, RESTRUCTURED the organization from the bottom up, and adopted their New Cascades philosophy. 2014 was an incredibly smartly designed show that was pretty widely enjoyed. It was incredibly well tailored to their members ability and they maxed it out, just missing semifinals in 26th. Oh yeah, their guard more than doubled and their hornline and drums grew as well. 2015. They again, nearly doubled in membership. Their Intergalactic show was even more well received than their 2014 show with again, incredibly intelligent design tailored to the membership and where the corps was. This show was a favorite of the non finalists, moving them back into semifinals for the first time since 2012. This was also their best finish amongst their World Class peers since 2007 at 20th when you take the OC corps out. 2016. They grew, again. The show was slightly more difficult and had slightly more depth. It was very positively received, and moved them into 22nd, their highest score since before they refielded, and were very close to Spirit of Atlanta. 2014 - 26th 2015 - 24th 2016 - 22nd If you wanna call their best season since they probably almost folded in 2008 in the cellar, I guess you can. But they have adopted a staff, philosophy, and way that has given them three years of constant improvement, success, and growth. They don't need to change a #### thing. They are trending up, not down. They are doing it intelligently and effectively. If that isn't evident in their shows and performances, it definitley is in the numbers.
