I confess to an utter knowledge vacuum in all the questions!

Cap'n Crunch is familiar but I never knew any of them personally.

I've been away from WI for over 32 years now. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Rob! Capn Crunch was big in the Mariners from about 65-72 so Im surprised you never saw him!

dmfootworks, you cannot win if you do not post!!!! Drive to Santa Cruz and stop

by Surfer Dog on the Boardwalk and buy a hot dog--only uncle z will NOT buy!!

You can then pretend you are at Warhawk stadium in Whitewater in 1978, and that

sound of the ocean is Spirit's horn line that you can hear from all of the way by

the dorms.

FrankBeMe, for not posting you are hereby banned to the U.P. until Labor Day

weekend!! Then you are ordered to drive the Park Falls Brass Regiment bus to

pick up former members of the Blue Notes, WI Rapids Zephyrs, and Belles of St

Mary's for a reunion show at Wausau and Merrill!!!

RobH, for posting and NOT answering my trivia contest, you are declared the

winner by default (so that everyone else has a chance to claim dc politics!!).

Tomorrow I will post your grand prize winnings!!!

Thanks, uncle z!

Dan - I'd seen Cap'n Crunch and the Mariners during their time of course, but I didn't know anyone from their corps nor any of the DM's personally - does this make better sense?

I was just one of those 'dedicated' types who practiced alot, did the shows, and didn't socialize outside the Kilts much, I guess!

O.K., RobH, to receive your grand prize, you need to enter Mr. Whoopee's way-back machine, where you will be transported back to 1975. Specifically, you are sent to the 4th of July weekend to do a parade in Columbus, WI for Parade Specialists, Inc. In order that you are not forced to march as a single snare drummer, I am borrowing you tenor drummer Ron Anderson to march with 1). Your competition in the parade (in the d&b category) comes from the Eau Claire Boys/Sundowners 3) and the Oshkosh Warriors/Marauders 4). You also are competing against the Buccaneers, Pirateers, Accents, Accent Cadets and the nucleus of Blue Stars East '76, all from Sheboygan 8). (That's 80% correct, right

fastbreak?) As you pass in review, Contest Director Annie Mixdorf (Mixed Drink) 6), having been plied with hot dogs and brewskis from Dave Crouch and Ed Trautner from Drum Corps World and Drum Corps News respectively 12), is lying in the gutter, humming tunes from the '73 Thing. She gets a look up your kilt and immediately awards you the parade championship, which allows you to compete in the night show. This action is protested by the following corps from Milwaukee: Pioneers, Mariners, Princemen, C-Gs, St Pats' Imperials, St Mathias "Midwest Express" (ha-ha), Mercy Girls, Fox Point Rebels and the West Allis Wranglers. (Ah, ####, let's extend it south to include the OLHR Queensmen and the AmbassaDears). At the night show, the drunken local crowd from the Fireman's picnic becomes incensed at hearing "Everything's Coming Up Roses" three times in a row by the Royal Knights, CapitolAires and Madison Junior Scouts 11) and gets a little rowdy. You and Ron are up next. Elmer Biederwolf, tabulator for PSI 6), feeling pity for you, loans you his son Ric, so that at least you can have bell music. Roman Blenski of PSI 6) also volunteers to be your flag section and wanders the back sideline with an old Menominee Northernaires flag. (Like that one, FrankBeMe??--shout out to my first drum instructor Ed Williams) The drunken crowd recognizes the '75 "Irish Washerwoman" drum solo and erupts into a frenzy. You are awarded high M&M and high drums from Randy "Flab" Mayer and Steve "Oscar" Mayer, respectively 5), effectively winning the show. At gran finale, Cap'n Crunches Bruno and Brazale 7) are to award you the trophy, but due to financial mismanagement by PSI, the only award available is Madisons cement lawn jockey, Phillip 2), and an offer to compete in next week's show in Grayslake, IL. At the show in FIB land, M. O'Brien of the Scarlet Knights, desperate in the knowledge of your ability (and jealous of how the crowd loved the "Cinderella" Kilts), fabricates a story of your being overage to show director Gary "Chops" Czapinski, resulting in your disqualification from the show. In disgust, you heave Phillip over the fence, striking Paul Milano during the stick click on the flag pole break in "Russian Christmas Music." Paul Milano, in his rage at "over-ages" complains to Don Warren, who has no recourse except to rat on the Muchachos at D.C.I., in effect, affording Madison the '75 title!!!!!!!! (Did I cover enough threads there???)

Uncle Z my man, you have committed an unpardonable sin! Pioneers were the outcome of the merger of St Pats and Cedarburg Thunderbolts in 73. They marched as The Thing for that year and eventally became Pioneer(s) (with an s back then!) So St Pats and Pioneers could not have possibly both protested RobH in the parade unless of course you sent St Pats back in the wayback as well.

my bad dans24103--I'll even tick myself because I don't think the West Allis Wranglers competed 'til '76, and St. Pat's wasn't in existence in '75--although I believe that the Thunderbolts were back in Cedarburg in '75.

Do we want to go into the history of the West Bend Patriots???

also, I see Paul Milano aged out in '74, so he could not have been hit by a flying Phillip--I'll change that to snare to  Ralph Poznanski!
