randomnoise
I am in the middle of finishing up the Renegades' book for 2002, and I want to feature our incredible Contra players. So, who is the standard? What are the hardest Contra Parts ever? What is the Coolest Contra feature ever? Like I told the guys at rehearsal, I think the hardest Contra part ever written was the whole note 'G' at the beginning of Russian Xmas Music that we played in SCV '87. And BD has always had some killer Contra-butions. What do you all think?
GMichael1230
Chris, as youstated already, BD has always had some awesome Contra parts, the 89 opener, 91 second number, 86 OTL.....etc, etc,etc Some say 86 Star of Indiana...., I also think 82/83 Spirit of Atlanta had some decent contra offerings. Thats just off the top of my head as a listener/fan. Geoffrey
Cainan
Check out the contra rif in 89 Freelancers coming out of the drum break. Wouldnt say it is the "toughest ever", but it was still pretty ########!!
FarmerFred
Always thought that besides the above mentioned shows that 1988 Madison Scouts and 1989 Star of Indiana had some interesting parts.
SWContra
Well, I can't say it's the hardest ever...or coolest...but the contra book on Esprit de Corps is kicking my butt. I also really like some of the riffs in Madison's 97 show...pretty cool stuff.
mosthumbleone
Cool and hard (and loud) contra parts? Â 2 corps immediately come to mind...both piston/rotor: 75 Muchachos...Opener (Marianne?) 79/80 Spirit of Atlanta...Nuttville and Sweet Georgia Brown
Blaringbrass
ITs not playing, but at the end of BD' 99 the contras are at the front sideline and start jazz running, it just sends chills up my back everytime I see it.
BlooooContra
The 99 BD contra line was definitely awesome. 01 SCV line really impressed me as well. As for tough licks, check out 02 Bluecoats.
