not at all.

your hands naturally are placed that way so you keep the sticks over the rim.

tilting the drum that way makes more sense because you hand just moves the same way it wants to.

you'll see

Wait, when you say they're tilting downward, does that mean that the far end of the rim (the one furthest from your body) would be tilted up, or down?

If they tilt them downward so that the bottom of the drum is pointed towards the players legs, what would that do to the sound projection? Wouldn't the projector just projec the sound directly into the ground? As to tilting them upwards... I can't imagine them doing something like that.

Oh-yah, I forgot to mention that they replacing their scoops with a never before seen custom hand carved North African shunts. (more vibe) Now the sound will project straight out from the shell. Tilt-schmilt.

Go figure?

yeah, its impossible to play if theyre tilted the other direction.  :P
