Sorry ,for the off topic commentary And please note, the people at GCF, actually have a firing squad. I hope you don’t force them to resort to such violence. Perhaps, you should spend less time checking out Hooker 46, and more time on your Show Concept

LancerFi
Well, we beat them by 5 points that night, and less than a week later, lost by 2 or so points at CYO, and then supposedly lost at DCI Prelims.I could never fathom that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And Madison? I can go look myself at corpsreps I guess....nevermind.... But, is it really that hard to fathom? You know yourself back then the difference between CYO, World Open, and DCI during that era on any given night, things could change! Actually during any given week....sans 1980.....DCI East to DCI Finals....although even I say we were too tired and flat in Birmingham at both shows! LancerFi
We actually beat them at World Open as well. So much for that.... :) And we actually beat you in prelims at WO....shocking, I didn't remember that, being in the stands, I must have really been enjoying the show...my back was totally burnt from prelims..... :( Edited December 22, 2004 by LancerFi

JimF-LowBari
Adding fuel to the fire ^0^ Westshoremen sponsored a a "Clap Show" at Hershey, PA the night after Philly DCI (both years). The amount of crowd response was "measured" by some kind of electronic device. Forget what kind of device it was or (more likely) never was mentioned. Results were tabulated by a CPA. OK, the CPA part is true as he played mellie with us. No scores were announced, just placements. Results in '75 were 1st Scouts, 2nd Muchachos. There actually was a worry about what would happen if Hawthorne won the clap show. Funniest part of the show was the long time Quartermaster for WSM presenting the trophy wearing his favorite cap. The cap was blue and said TROOPERS across the front. No one thought to tell the guy to put on a different hat until it was too late. Never forget one of the BoD saying "Oh ####, Benny's wearing THAT hat isn't he?". The response he got was "Well if Casper had won it would have looked pretty suspious huh?" Rocketman
I'm not sure if it's a/the mystique, but I do know that I loved their show, from the hornline to the guard....it was a great show I thought. Without going thru scores, etc. I loved them in person, live! No mystique there, just what I enjoyed, however I enjoyed many, many corps in 1975. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LancerFi: 1975 was indeed a strong year. The top 5, 6 if you count Muchachos, were all excellent. The bottom six weren't too bad either! Rocketman - it was a very good year! ampssuck
mobrien
Just saw this one on eBay... You are bidding on a CD of THE HAWTHORNE MUCHACHOS Drum & Bugle Corps, recorded from 1974 to 1976. This CD includes the legendary 1975 DCI Preliminary performance that had the Muchachos beating The Madison Scouts for the DCI Championship--only to be disqualified and not eligible to compete in finals. The CD features... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...4063433893&rd=1 There's a fine line between "hype" and "an out and out lie...."
