3 Spirit of Atlanta 73.350

In one day...

Spirit > -0.75

Sky > -0.90

B'men > -2.35

Knights> -8.95

Even in the days of the tic, a 9 point drop in one day was virtually unheard of. So, I wouldn't say the Bridgemen "beat" the Knights the next day in Rockford so much as the judges "beat" the Knights the next day in Rockford.

I guess the Bridgemen worked harder than everyone else while the Knights took a 3 week long vacation

Give the Knights even a +10.00 change over the last three weeks and the corps makes top 12!

could it mean that earlier in the season Knights were the ones getting the push?? and the powers that be changed their way of thinking?? that maybe they felt that the Knights' scores were a little inflated at that time? thats really what it looks like.

I'm pressed for time......I'll post a bit of something about 83......

Touring the south was a big fat ol' negative on the summer. Talk about hot and sweaty.

I'm young - but Regiments score really just popped out at me - between DCM prelims and finals they got the EXACT SAME SCORE.

I mean, that's odd. No theories or anything - I'm nowhere near being experienced enough for that, just an observation.

We found it odd, too, since our DCI Midwest Finals performance was much better than our Prelims performance. Rumor had it that Bob Briske (sp) was really angry about ours, Troopers', and Geneseo's Prelims scores, basically saying the judges screwed us over.

After DCI Midwest, we knew we weren't going to win DCI Finals, so our attitude was if we weren't going to win, we would make sure our performances made people wonder why we didn't win. Instead of bickering and finger pointing, we gelled together as a group and tried to be the best we could be. Rehearsing and performing with this group of people was one of the greatest experiences I've ever had in a drum and bugle corps or anywhere for that matter. This was a very special group of people.

Memphis Blues, Rivermen, Imperial Guard, Saginairs, Blue Stars, Guardsmen, Seattle Imperials, to name a few all lost their relevance as corps were vanishing left and right.

Imperial Guard was the new kid on the block in that group, having been formed in 1980. (Not sure when Memphis Blues first came into being; it might've been around that same time. I was living in Evansville at the time, so I'm a lot more familiar with Imperial Guard's story.) So much hope and promise, yet so much chaos in their first year. They stumbled out of the gate and never seemed to recover. It was a sad situation. I would've liked to have seen them build slowly on success, rather than fold only a few years into their existence. A lot of folks' dreams, and finances, went with the corps.
