skajerk
Anyway, you want to know why it bothers me at all? It's a bit like Madison without Scott Stewart, or Madison allowing girls. Wait . . .Well, at least I now see where you're coming from.I'm not really sure what it means to be in the "thick" of it. If you're referring to scores, I certainly didn't care about them when I marched, and I don't care about them now. I'm much more concerned with whether or not they are entertaining. I'll know the answer to that question when I see them first-hand in Foxboro.-Ted <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, judging from how they've been doing and the responses I've been seeing, they must be entertaining. But wait a minute... you haven't even seen them yet and you're complaining?? *sigh* I guess some people just have to find something to complain about. d_c_i
But wait a minute... you haven't even seen them yet?? Yes, you knew that: I read a few reviews that Madison doesn't have a fleur-de-lis in their show this year.1.) Is that true?
Eric Molho
Actually, they had it in the show . . . briefly. At their first competition in Mankato the show had a quiet encore (think Cadets Appalachain Spring show) that occurred after the big blow-your-face-off ending. The fleur de lis was in the drill there. Two days later, at the Menomonie Wisconsin show, that soft ending was gone. Whether we see the additional ending with the fleur again . . . I guess we'll see :) Edited July 20, 2005 by MBIBari
Einstein On The Beach
The Scouts are doing pretty fine, and everyone seems to love them. And I guess these guys care about scores a little more, seeing that a great organization shouldn't be dropping out Finals, maybe we should talk about that. Oh wait
MadisonBlast
Star had a star in every show, every year. In 93, its very abstract, much like the music. I haven't seen the video in a while so I cannot tell you exactly when, but I remember having this same conversation with James Mason. CORNEVIE
I used to also like the way Madision played their way on the field at the beginning before their show. The crowd would always go crazy.
Roark1
Anyway, you want to know why it bothers me at all? It's a bit like Madison without Scott Stewart, or Madison allowing girls. Wait . . . Well, the Scouts were great before Scott Stewart, they were great with Scott Stewart, and they will be great after Scott Stewart. From looking at the scores, the show seems to be working well. If they were to put it in for the sake of putting it in, it might detract from the show. Who knows? I like the fact that they are doing better in the standings. It’s a drum corps competition, not a drum corps exhibition, or did I miss something in the last 25 plus years.
jvsmom
I remember last year when people were disappointed because we DID have it in the show... I agree with those that said it can get a little gratuitous, and it's not needed in this show just to have it. Granted, I haven't seen the show yet, but I trust other's judgement. TopBass
The corps formerly known as Madison Scouts breaking away from tradition? *shocker* Bitter, party of one, your table is ready. Anyone know if the staff let go last year (by way of announcement) found other jobs? I marched with most of them and am concerned about my brothers. kdaddy
It's a bit like Madison without Scott Stewart <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Would we be talking about Madison in the Top 3 this year, or the Top 10? Or making finals?
