Hi Mark!

I would love to see and hear the Magnificent Yankees!!! I gained a new appreciation for the "old school" last summer. The Muchachos were awesome!

Talk to you soon!

Any drum corps before the tic judging system was removed...

as far as I know... they ALL folded after that.

The Spartans didn't. They just celebrated their 50th year last year. Looks like the Chicago Cavaliers, Troopers, Boston Crusaders, and the Racine Scouts (to name but a few) didn't fold either.

In no particular order...OK...to be SURE and be fair...in ALPHABETICAL ORDER (unless your name begins with a number *smirk*).

- 27th Lancers

- Bridgemen

- Freelancers

- Guardsmen

- North Star

- Velvet Knights

As for those of you who said "Spirit of Atlanta" and "Garfield Cadets"- come on guys, just because part of the name changed doesn't mean they are not the same corps. Well, in a way I suppose they are not. But no more so than the old Blue Devils verses modern Blue Devils, old Cavaliers verses new Cavaliers etc.

I absolutely agree..

What I would give to see a corps like the 1978 Blue Devils again..

Man.. If that corps didn't reinforce my love of marching IN a drum and bugle corps..

Blue Rock for sure.

The Freelancers, who hold a special place in my heart..back in the early 70s Butler PA had a 3 day DC gig. I think it was 74 when they showed up, not on the schedule, played first and swept the contest. Talk about out of the blue. We had not heard of them before that.

It was maybe a year later that the Kingsmen showed up and were so bad it was stunning, I guess this was right near the end. That was probably the biggest downer I remember in corps.

Other fond memories:

The Kilties

Etobicoke

The CapitolAires and The Ventures

North Star

locally the Marion Cadets and Vagabonds.

And of couse the Crimson Cadets who usually showed up at enough shows to keep anybody else from having to worry about finishing last.
