KeithHall
Hey...I'm just trying to add something to this section of DCP. Besides, some of these corps we've never really chatted about. So let's here from people who may know.

Blackstar
To my understanding Blue Rock folded sometime after a very bad west coast trip. The buses broke down and they had to fly back out east. They lasted another year then tried the senior route. Correct me if I'm wrong.
dckid80
The St. Francis Sancians of Weymouth, MA separated from their church affiliationat the end of the '77 season and merged with what was left of the Imperials of Pembroke, MA to form Spectra. Black uni's with a rainbow like cross-sash. Spectra later merged with the Heightsmen to form Alliance.

MikeD
I arranged for and taught the Wayne Monarchs drumline in 1976..their last year under that name. We had a very nice show... Opened with a Nelhybel concert march called "High Plains" Also played the theme from the "Rocklford Files" The end of the show was "Would You Believe" and "Ease on Down the Road" from "The Wiz". Matt Krempasky was our lead soloist on sporano on "Would You Believe". Basically we were a middle-of-the-pack GSC corps, going nowhere fast. The director, Jack Taylor, got together with the director of the Greenwood Lake Lakers from NY State and they decided to merge the two corps together. The Lakers were a lower end GSC corps. We left competition mid-season and put together a field show for Wildwood states...came out with 45+ Horns, 6 snares...etc...huge corps! We renamed the combined corps the "King's Regiment". Probably the most fun I ever had in drum corps....kind of a Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland "Hey let's put on a show!" feeling that summer. I don't think we were judged at States, but recently I was told we DID get a score...so who knows. In 77 I think we came in 2nd in the GSC! Or close to it, anyway. Opened with Berlioz "March to the Scaffold", played a neat 6/4 Doc Severinson tune next...forget the name. I was again the arranger for the percussion, and I had the great Jack Pratt with me as cleanup guy. Our extended drum solo was DeBussy's "Goliwogs Cakewalk" featuring the mallets, and the second was a 6/8 piece by Wm Walton...I forget the name. It was actually suggested to me by Jack Pratt. I used a brass quintet in it as well as percussion. The corps declined quickly after 77...I had too much band stuff to remain with them, as I was a band director at the time....I judged them in the GSC and in 78 or 79 they became the ONLY corps I ever ticked down to a 0 at a show...I regret that to this day.
