topsops
I just received my copy of 1990 DCI Championships in Buffalo NY. I was really impressed by the corps in the finals. Dutch Boy really impressed me, because I've never seen them before that show. Actually, it was great seeing ALL those corps out there. I applaud anyone who marched that year, it was a real thrill watching you. (I know its a little late....like 15 years). I'm just so glad DCI has made those DVD's available to us all. profhill
Doesn't this topic belong in the Historical Section. Afterall, this was before 1995. Good God, the first I went to DCI Finals was 1990!!!! Am I really that old? Am I historical now? I'm having a little birthday anxiety, nothing to worry about. kevingamin
After next season, my DCI experience is officially all historical.

audiodave
1990 was a great year for me....I had just returned from the service overseas, having missed out on all those killer shows from 1983 thru 1989. I missed 'em all. So in 1990 when i got out out of the service- a friend of mine and I drove up to Buffalo 11 hours the day before finals with no tickets and barely any money. Got some nosebleed seats, but BOY! what a great lineup that year! It was a great "Welcome back to drum corps".
LaSqueegee
Boy...what a change the activity went through from 1982-1990!!!! Didn't it feel A LOT different to you??? ^_^
audiodave
Oooh yah it did..when i left...Asymetrical drill was JUST starting, 2 valve horns were the thing to have, Drumlines didn't move around much.. Spirit of Atlanta was waaaay different. No one had a drum too big to carry. Pits were a lot smaller. Not much dancing going on. sooo much more.... But I've adapted and appreciated everything i've seen since 1990 (except amps and/or vocals). I still go back and listen to 1983 thru 1989 on cd, and i have a few dvd's i've watched...but i feel like an outsider for those years. weird.
