drumcat
Last I checked, it was near even money that people thought Academy would win next year... should I resurrect the bet?
leadsop97
no you shouldn't. things have been going nicely around here without people arguing all of the time. it's nice seeing people just talk drum corps and not attack other memebers on these boards and other corps. so since it's died finally, let it rest in peace. as for the video, it's not bad. they're good it's obvious. Let's see what happens in August and then we can discuss, anybody with me?
Phirefenix
in over a month before grand finals, East Coast Jazz's score improved 19.045. Spartans' score improved 18.200. Even bumping Academy up only 15.000 to account for the point spread we usually see when Pacific Crest, Mandarins, Esperanza etc. join the rest of the pack, you can see their projected score. Do I honestly think they would have scored 99.250? Probably not, nor do I expect them to win Div II next year in Madison, but if any new corps has a shot, Academy probably has the best shot of any corps in recent history. I DO see them taking a huge stand in Div II, and going Div I within a few years (assuming they want to) Just a few things that should be pointed out IMHO. Comparing scores for corps across the country from each other won't be as reliable as is implied. I never took stock in hearing scores at other shows, and comparing them to mine. What matters is when the corps meet. Which has yet to be proven. Though if compare scores you must. Bear in mind the scores not by date, but by schedule. I.E. Academy, ECJ, Spartans all at their 1st, 2nd, 3rd shows etc... As compared, on July 9th, Academy was nearing the end of their tour. As Spartans were not even halfway into theirs. Though if we take the first ten scores for the three corps, and align them as if they were touring at the same time. It paints a far different picture. Academy: 70.600 Spartans: 72.850* ECJ: 71.800 Academy: 71.900 Spartans: 73.450* ECJ: 72.500 Academy: 72.450 Spartans: 74.850* ECJ: 73.500 Academy: 73.950 Spartans: 75.300* ECJ: 74.700 Academy: 75.600 Spartans: 78.950* ECJ: 78.300 Academy: 77.650 Spartans: 84.250* ECJ: 78.700 Academy: 82.550 Spartans: 84.650* ECJ: 83.450 Academy: 84.250 Spartans: 83.800 ECJ: 84.900* Academy: 83.200 Spartans: 88.450* ECJ: 86.600 Academy: 83.450 Spartans: 89.400 ECJ: 89.875* So that's our imaginary tour. The asterisk denoting the winner of each 'show'. If anything, I've proved that the numbers can be presented any way you like to support your point. I don't doubt that Academy will be competitive with Spartans, and ECJ. Anything that is posted here on a forum is just conjecture to begin with. So until I see Academy face to face I'll just say that noone is invincible. That goes for Spartans, and ECJ too. To appease you hypers out there. funkrocker049
So this whole thread can be summed up quite simply: Academy is good, and so is every other corps going to Madison. Academy will be competitive, and so will every other corps going to Madison.
JazzBari
Yes it will be a great seaon in Div II/III, and I'll be one to say, "Thank You DCI......... for at least trying to fix the way Div II/III competes. Its not as assbackwards, as it was in 2004 and !!2005!!" And when it comes to this thread I know for a FACT that East Coast Jazz, The Academy, and Spartans (forgive me if I don't spend the time to write down every corps) will leave everything on that field at CAMP RANDALL STADIUM. I can't wait to see you all again!!!! See you on the Field. Edited February 10, 2006 by JazzBari
