  1. it is from Allegro Molto of Music for Strings Percussion and Celeste
  2. I think a game similar to rock band or guitar hero would be too difficult and costly to produce for such a small audience... I think a drum corps oregon trail kind of game would be more likely
  3. I agree with all of these. I actually made a teddy bear wearing a mini corps uniform for my boyfriend as an x-mas present this year... trying to motivate him to march at least one year before he ages out it would also be cool if you could get collectable shot glasses... either one from every corps or one that is specific for that years' show for a particular corps and have a new one to collect every year (as an alternative to the tour shirts).
  4. not necessarily a comment, but still rather annoying It was at Div 1 Finals (I believe in 2006) there were a couple belligerently drunk people in the stands... being very obnoxious and very loud. I left to go get a drink after the current corps finished and thankfully they were gone when I returned for the next show. They completely ruined that specific performance for me (sadly I can't remember what corps was on at the time). There were people around them trying to get them calm down too, but that was just making them angrier. To me, Drum Corps never seemed like the kind of event that would attract those kinds of people who get drunk for a show. Then again I am usually a performing member when I am at a show
  5. I haven't seen BDB or SCVC this summer, and sadly will not be able to. But one thing I do know about BDB, SCVC and Tealsound is that they are much larger and much louder than other open class corps. Size isn't what makes a corps good, if anything I believe that it can be deceiving for a viewing audience. I do agree that there may be some judges that really don't do a good job... but definitely not all of them. However, if various judges keep the a spread consistent in different shows, then I think that they are doing something right. If the scores were all over the place from show to show then I would be concerned. All we can do is watch and wait and the outcome will be determined at finals.
  6. Yes, quite a few former members followed their staff to citations, including myself. The staff and the members made that corps what it was. The spartans are a completely new corps using an old name. I do not expect to see the corps resemble what we have seen in the past. I wish the members of the spartans the best of luck this summer as well as everyone else marching this summer, I hope that everyone enjoys marching where ever they chose to march this summer. It shouldn't matter how clean a corps is, but how hard the members work to achieve their goals, whether that goal is to win or to have fun.
  7. This is what happens when you tell a corps to jazz run after you gave them all a Red Bull
  8. Aussie = Helmet = B) Shako = <**> Baseball cap = ^OO^
  9. can we try to keep the personal stuff away from the forums? lets get back on topic... Academy's padcast was impressive ^OO^ , I look forward to competing with you next year
  10. In my marching experience, there is definatly a BIG difference between drum corps and marching band. The marching band that I am in, lacks discipline (on and off the field), motivation (staff and members), and commitment (comming to practice). Drum corps. on the other hand everyone wants to be there. They do what they're told, no argument. Everything is more organized, everyone knows where everyone is at any given time. Friendships are also very strong at drum corps. because no one knows your background. It's just a completely different atmosphere. And on top of that, you get to be around some amazing and dedicated musicians your age, and have an outstanding staff. It's so much less stressful on the field, not having to deal with people complaining (like in marching band). And it is a #### of a lot more physical. The people that are there because they want to be there, not jsut for an easy half credit.

  13. Well i do agree with the "What goes on in the horn bus, stays on the horn bus" idea, but this is a funny thing that we relized happened while on the horn bus. to make this brief, it was a laundry day and we just left our housing site to go to the laundromat, and half way there (10 minutes later) someone asks "where is our drum major?" so she calls his cell and we found out that we had left him at the housing site. I just found it funny that we had lost our drum major and it took that long to relize that we lost him. but the best horn bus stories will never be told...
