Charlie Tedesco

Recommended Posts

I got a phone call early this morning from Marie Tedesco informing

me that her father, Charlie Tedesco, had had a major stroke

yesterday and death is imminent. He's on the 6th floor of Crouse

Hospital in Syracuse and is being given "comfort care." His family

is with him at the bedside.

Charlie Tedesco has been around Drum Corps in Syracuse since the

early 70's when he was a great help to the Syracuse 76'ers. Two of

his daughters and a niece were in the corps at the time. He would

chaperone and was world famous for his traffic directing, whether it

be for helping the bus get into a parking place or out. He knew

more than the drivers themselves, of course, but everything seemed

to work out fine when all was said and done.

For the Brigadiers, he was in the 90's and early 2000's mostly a

person who would scout out venues for us, test drive directions,

help with popsicles, help with errands that management just didn't

have time to do, help, help, and help. He was often the liaiason

between the corps and one of our Bingo venues, American Legion Post

1276 in Eastwood, the Home Base of the original Syracuse

Brigadiers. In this way, he made life easier for us in

the "struggling" years of the Brigadiers of the new era.

Let's all send up some prayers for him and his family that they have

the strength to get through this dark time.

I don't know Charlie, but if he is a member of the Brigadier family (and helped with popsicles hehe), that's good enough for me :)

All thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Being a Caballero with 60 years behind us we get msgs like this more than we'd like too. I'm sure I'm not alone when I offer my prayers for him and the Brigg family. You guys are a class act in victory and defeat.

being a former Brigadier from those early years, I know first hand how much Charlie really helped the Brigs.

It was Charlie who actually got our original indoor site to practice and to hold meetings in 90 and 91 and beyond (yes at that same legion post 1276). It was Charlie who approched the "sounds" for a large donation that kept the brigs around before bingo. It was Charlie who got the infamous GE site for outdoor practice. When we needed a place to hold bingo games it was Charlie who went to bat for the corps at that same legion post. When a certain person needed something it was Charlie who always did the running no matter how much #### he got. I can go on but all I wanted people to know that it was people like Charlie Tedesco that in his own quiet way that helped in a HUGE way to make the corps a success. When you say "a true Brigadier" two names come to mind Don Wahl and Charlie Tedesco. If you would PLEASE say one for Charlie

The Brigs were always in Charlie's heart. When it's time, Mr. Wahl will surely welcome Charlie with a smile and a handshake. They'll have lots of wonderful memories to recall....

Hey Charlie...Thanks man.

Hi, everyone, this is Charlie Tedesco's daughter marie, (76'ers, sound of CNY) my dad passed at 130 this morning. Some of you may have heard his grand daughter sing at the last 6 DCA championship shows, (Amanda.) I want to thank Scott Mescon for posting the news on DCP forum, I'm not sure what I would do without him, he has been like another brother to me, we go a long way back. He was there when mom passed away 5 years ago giving my family all the support we needed, and here he is again giving me the support he know I will need. For all of you in the Syracuse area, the arrangements will be in the Post-strandard Saturday. thank you everyone for all of the prayers!

Marie (tedesco) Marzullo :(
