A fabulous image of Bones is on the 2004 tour video...Bones was on the cherry picker again at Allentown, and the videographer had a camera attached below, with the up-light effect, cape swirling....

my personal favorite, however, is this:

That's my favorite picture as well. I wish it was of better quality. But the reason it's my favorite is because the Drum Major, Joe Kempf (whose life was tragicly cut short), just oozed that spirit that the Crossmen represent. It's as if Bones and Joe are one and the same at that moment. There is rarely a day that goes by when I don't think about Joe and miss his contagious energy and spirit. God rest his soul.

By the way, Joe Kempf actually wore the Bones 1978 uniform at retreat and the announcing of the scores for the 2002 DCI East show at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Complete with cross sashes and cape. If anyone has a picture of him in that uniform, I would love to have it for our website!

torn8o: It's all good. I can only speak about the time I was there and what I saw and experienced. If things were run differently before 1997, there's not much I can do to offer anything different because I was either not there, teaching somewhere else, or actually in the corps and not privvy to that information. Things have pretty much remained constant since 1997 when it comes to all of this. I haven't been around the corps much the last two seasons, but there are members of the alumni association who were a part of it all when I was around and they keep things going quite well.

Hey Gary - I have a picture of him wearing the uniform. It's not the best quality, but it's good enough to easily see the cross sashes, cape, and white aussie. I'll send or post it as soon as I scan it in. Reading this post made me think of that picture, and I just dug it up yesterday.

It certainly didnt help in '99 that I kept spreading that rumor Garry. Well, that, and I also told the kids Sue Samuels was Bones too.......
