smj02
Madison Scouts - Hmmm....for some observers, I'm sure the reaction will be: assimilation complete. A different approach from Madison this year. The drill is distinctly Myron Rosander - complete with a "pathways" opening;lines-to-box, box-to-lines; several "snake" moves; and a twist on the classic T to triangle move from SCV. The only truly Scouts-esque moment is the move with a moving/rotating form that is half fleur de lis, half box...representative of the show, which includes elements of Madison's past, but is clearly a different genre for them. The hornline writing has a few classic screaming sop moments, but for the most part, the writing is much darker, with a stronger lower brass presence than their early-00s and earlier shows. Also, the percussion and pit were featured much more than past Madison shows. ALthough this is not truly a show in the "Madison" genre, I like what they're doing and look forward to how this show changes as the season progresses. MN DCI Fan
I'm really excited to see this show. I wonder how much of the "robotic" stuff we're going to lose on our tiny screens?
geluf
Man. So fresh and so clean, clean, CLEAN.
MikeN
The only thing that really bothers me about the Cavaliers show is that you really don't get a melody - *any* kind of sustained melody - until the end of the opener - the big horn re-entrance after the pit interlude. And even then, it's an 8 bar motif and that's it for the entire intro / opener. Mike

geluf
OK, that elastic drill move where it flings the guard member backwards is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

MikeN
Yeah - that's an inspired move - one of those things that they'll mention 5 years from now. :) Mike
Machine
Add the "stretching of the machine" to their long list of memorable drill moments.
