JMS0527
1995: a lot of people I know don't like this show, and I think if not for the Swing Swing Swing thing (and the long time the hornline spent just hanging around) this corps would've been closer to winning. Another show that I got to see grow over the course of a full season (favorite ending: the ending at Preview when all the males of the corps marched away playing one song, and the females stayed on the field playing a ballad or something). BLAST!!! I wish I could've seen this ending! I always think of it and try to picture it in my head...I've never heard anything negative about that ending
dbc03
Draw your own conclusions. I'm just putting the numbers in. :) *EDIT* FINALLY! Sheesh, what a pain. :) Using that, here are the top 10 Cadets shows as stated by the posters. (Actually 11 because of a 3 way tie for 9th) 1983 9 39.13% 1995 9 39.13% 1997 9 39.13% 2005 10 43.48% 2001 11 47.83% 1989 13 56.52% 1984 14 60.87% 1987 15 65.22% 1992 16 69.57% 2000 17 73.91% 1993 18 78.26% 4 from the 80s 4 shows from the 90s 3 from the 00s Considering the 00s don't have as many to choose from as the 80s and the 90s, I think they hold up pretty well. Jacob
Cadets are probably my favorite corps in the activity and have been for some time, so it's hard for me to decide my top ten...but here goes. 1. 2005 - Some people hate this show, but I absolutely love it - I don't know what it is about it, but when I got my DVD's last Christmas, I couldn't stop watching it - just over and over and over - it seemed every time I watched it, I found something new that made me enjoy it even more. The ballad from Dancer in the Dark is just absolutely beautiful...it's haunting 2. 1993 - When I was like 10 years old, I decided I would be a band director and this show was going to be one that I would have my band do on the field (haha...yeah right)...but I just love it. Philip Bliss is one of my all-time favorite pieces of band literature and it's just a great show in general...so hard...and the mellophone licks just make my jaw drop everytime I listen to them. 3. 1998 - For me, the 2nd half of this show (from Cantebury Chorale on) is what makes me love this show - I like the beginning half, but the ballad and closer are just "WOW" for me - I didn't see this live (I wish I had though) but watching it on video, the double flags in the ballad just completely blew me away - at one point they zoom out and it's a high cam shot, and the movement they are doing looks like giant rain drops falling into puddles on the field - maybe that's just me. And the ending is just one of the most exciting finishes I can think of. 4. 1984/1994 - Can I put a tie since they're both West Side Story? It's my top 10, so I will. Both of these shows were so innovative and so much fun. I wish 2004 would have brought another rendition of WSS instead of Jethro Tull. Unfortunately that's one show that WON'T ever be on my top 10 list for them. 5. 1990 - Bernstein - I think the Cadets owe Lenny big time - without him, they would be minus so many championships - but it's ok...because no one brings him to the field like they do. I love Bernstein's music, and I love the Cadets - 1, 2, punch. 6. 1992 - Great show - so exciting and such a cool show too. 7. 1985 - The first time I listened to this show (never seen all of it unfortunately) I was blown away - it was so modern and full of interesting sounds - I love that opening hit after the baritone solo and cymbal waves...just knocks you back 8. 1997 - I hated the color guard uniforms from this show (I thought they were so ugly...sorry)...but the music and drill was just awesome. 9. 1989 - Les Mis is my favorite musical of all-time - and they kicked butt with it. 10. 2000 - I like this show - but my favorite part is the last minute and a half after the "anything you can do I can do better" section, and the "playing each other's horns section" - that final 90 seconds is just so emotional - and listening to the crowd response to it is just overwhelming. This is just a ranking I came up with - my #1-3 are set in stone as my top 3 favorites...the rest could switch from day to day. I just like them all to be honest...except for Jethro Tull. Sorry. They should have given the 4th place award that year to Metallica to make up for the first hard rock grammy awarded to Jethro Tull. (just kidding of course)

Looks like we prefer the new stuff to "old school" :P

727driver
I dig the music to the 98 show, but I just can't get past the glaring intonation errors in the hornline. It was a pretty ratty sound that year IMO. Great show though and totally deserved the win.
