Phansouth
Unless you were in SCV. Yes. This was my very first show. Finals in 1980. Oh my. The Bridgemen's mock football game at a time when Alabama was the king of college football. Priceless. The Chrome Wall, SOftly as I Leave You, SCV's crazy drill. PR's gutsy guard, Madison's ridiculous chord in Ice Castles, Spirit blew the stands down, 2-7, BD's soloists... I was hooked. I was eight years old. CSGreen
I am really surprised by the amount of people saying 2000. Of all the finals I have attended and watched, it was my least entertaining evening bar none. There were some great shows in 2000, but many many boring, IMO
Matt_S
I agree. The top four was amazing that year, some of the best shows ever, and I can even understand putting Boston in that mix. Outside of that, though, the shows were good, but not great enough to make it the best year ever.
geddy
I'd definitely agree with 1989. 1993, however enjoyable shows were, if we were going by marching sites, Jackson Mississippi was how would i say....unique. Nothing like having a police escort to the housing site, and then enjoying some fine practice time in the ghetto, complete with spectators sporting '40 oz. and crack houses just down the street. I wish I was making that up. I heard rumors of even worse things involving x-mens' housing. gotta go with 1995 as a very good year as well. Matt Jackson wasn't too bad.. If you consider gunfire ok.. I had the most fun in '91 Edited July 14, 2006 by geddy
Frank Mulvaney
I've observed this activity for 40 years and have been to 11 DCI finals as well as three World Opens and a VFW Final. There have been several great top 12's,but I vote for 2005 because IMHO it had the best 30th ranked corps of all time. zarblap
Fixed :PFYI, I totally respect the opinions of the posters before me. Not trying to bash any era, just having a little fun:) hey Maedbros...actually at 1969 vfw st.joe's was dumped to somewhere around 8th,so I guess it wasn't all that great every year,,there's always been BS politics for some unknown reason Edited July 15, 2006 by zarblap
