CavAlum
http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/content/view/694/28/How does this happen to the Cadets of all people? I just don't see how Hop would let this happen. I'm guessing their housing sight pulled out at the last second?! It can happen to anybody. In '99 my superintendent flipped over an insurance form and almost told the crossmen they couldn't stay 18 hours out. We resolved it, but still, it happens. GMichael1230
heh, it's not. I think a few people are just a bit tempermental about the whole cadets situation at this point. Its called the "borg" They get riled up at anything, and prove it to be true over and over again ~G~

supersop
This problem was brought to light over a month ago. Many of the DCI elite were informed that there were housing problems. Some chose to take care of it then ..... others chose to let DCI try and sort it out I guess. I'm not sure why DCi is have housing problems with a town that has a huge drum corps history. Madison can't even practice on their regular field due to construction. I guess the whole town fell apart since we were last there and they are just now fixing it :P
LAMystreaux
No kidding. All you have to do is put "Cadets" in the thread title and folks come in looking for a fight...... In defense, the OP did put "How did Hop let this happen?" Why jump to that conclusion and blame Hop, especially if you read the article? Why jump to that conclusion and blame Hop, especially if you read the article? Perhaps - although however much I may disagree with his ideas, he does seem like a guy that has everything under control and gets the details covered. Maybe that's where the OP was going? We all know stuff happens when you're on the road though. My "looking for a fight" statement applies to both the lovers and the haters - there is a lot of passionate feelings swirling around Cadets and their show design this year. afarfetchedlife
This appeared in Madison's afternoon paper: Thursday, July 20, 2006 The Capital Times Some 60 drum corps organizations from all over the nation will descend on the Madison area for competitions the week of Aug. 7, but at the moment, eight of them, four with more than 100 members, have nowhere to stay. Jeff Cox, the housing coordinator for Drum Corps International, said his ability to find housing for the corps has been complicated by the fact that high school football practice begins that same week. Some area schools that in the past offered housing and practice facilities to the drum corps are unwilling to do so this year as a result of the football schedule. So Cox has put out a plea to people around southern Wisconsin to call him if they have facilities that could host a full drum corps during part or all of that week. Four of the corps needing housing are Division I corps, which means they each have 128 members plus staff and volunteers. As a result, they need somewhat larger facilities. The other four corps are smaller. The corps members sleep on floors, but they need shower facilities, parking and a football-sized field where they can practice. Not all the corps would necessarily stay for the entire week. The first day of competition is Tuesday, Aug. 9, and the championship finals are on the night of Saturday, Aug. 12. People with offers or ideas for housing can contact Cox at 630-400-3819. He asks that people make contact as soon as possible because arranging housing is urgent.
