Siggamiggon
Has there been any books written about ones' experience in drum corps. (I am aware of the books written by DCW which talk more about the history, I am looking for a perspective of a marching member) I recall reading something on this site about a book by a former Blue Knight member (the name of that book and author would be welcomed). Would a book of this manner interest anyone?
Matt21
There are 2 books that i know of. The first one is the blue knights one you heard about. The second one is about the 1986 blue devils http://www.amazon.com/field-Denver-Colorad...TF8&s=books http://www.amazon.com/Lorin-Solo-Chuck-Edw...TF8&s=books

cccmommy
If you are looking for an accurate depiction of the marching experience, I would not recommend THE LORIN SOLO. It's an ok book but other than winning championships it doesn't resemble marching BD '86 at all.
dc oldtimer
Don Warren is writting a book about his life and drum corps. I am sure it will mostly be about his life and The Cavaliers since 1948 but I am sure it will talk about drum corps in general also. Including the start of DCI. Keep your eyes on the Cavalier website for an anouncement of the reliese I'd say early next year.
CrunchyTenor
"The Renegades Journal", by Lee Rudnicki. How seven people and a ham sandwich became a DCA finalist. Out of print, but if there's enough interest we might be able to persuade Lee to issue another printing! Garry

jfmello
wasnt there one about a season with the cadets?i already have On the Field.... its really good describes the drum corps experience very well. The one about the Cadets is, I think, David Welch's journal from the '84 season. It is also available on Amazon. Look at The Middle Horn Leader. crown_junkie
When I age out in five or so years, I plan to make a huge Marcher's Handbook, half of which will be information, and the other half my personal journal from a summer or two. It will have everything: -List of school stayed in, complete with school secrets, cool things to look at, and a rating of the showers (box 1-5) -Polishing tips, instrument cleaning tips -A guide to making it through yet another day -A journal that records the emotional process of a summer long inferno -And much more! Of course, I have to learn about all these thing first...but I have five years to write it.
geluf
I am currently writing a book. While its main focus is how I dealt with cancer as a teen, a good portion of it will be on my drum corps experience, because it ties into that.
