mellodramatic
I heard something about a change to it, but I'm not positive so don't quote me on that.
PRC06
They must have changed the ingredients recently then...but what does inactive vs. active mean?
StickTrick
i agree with an earlier post. i have always found that if i use a ton of pressure and force air through the instrument, i'll be fine and be able to hit all the high notes whenever i want. something the mouthpiece comes out the back of my head, that's when you know you're doing real good... sopemloud
I did some research on this last year. DCT does contain small traces of camphor. what camphor does is help relax the tissue in you lips according to WIKIPEDIA: "Camphor is readily absorbed through the skin and produces a feeling of cooling similar to that of menthol and acts as slight local anesthetic and antimicrobial substance" products like Carmex have very high concentrations of camphor. too much can be damaging to your lips especially when combined with menthol in large amounts. DCT has a very small amount. just enough to be effective in cooling and leave no damage to the lip tissue. they ya go...that's what i know. i use DCT when i'm out in the sun...and chopsaver indoors. save the expensive stuff for the high end expensive symphonic world...use the tough stuff for the grunt work. Feet Guru
carmex has stuff that breaks down muscle tissue. do NOT use it! it may feel nice on your lips, but it's terrible for them. I was told camphor breaks down muscle tissue too. Any source for this? I personally doubt it myself. My understanding is that it is a muscle relaxant (so perhaps not a good thing to put on your lips for practice anyways). Maybe there are some good post-practice uses. But then, Feet Guru is no doctor, despite what his mail-order diploma may say. It also promotes cell growth...which, if unabated, results in CANCER! Truly, a matter of life... and death. spamula
Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm.It should have a category of its own in this poll. So I cast no vote. :P Agreed.... I'm all about Burts Bee's I like the tin beter than the stick.. But they just came out with Burts Bee's Lifeguards Friend.. which has a natual sun block (can't be SPF rated though) I also got attached this stuff this past summer! My mello bell got backed into during a pass through and left huge gashes on both of my lips. This all natural stuff cleared it up quicker than DCT even did even a little scratch. As for sun contact, BBW was the best thing I have found, after playing I apply (about every 2-3 hrs)... Every day, my lips feel brand new! BaritoneBamBam
Oi ahh. DCT does not promote cell growth, it doesn't have Form1b growth hormones in it. jeez haha people dont stop labeling everything with cancer these days.
keymodf
I prefer things without vitamin A, as excessive amounts of it can dry out your skin. Burt's Bees is good stuff as it has no vitamin A or camphor.
trooper11
agreed.. carmex, i've found, dries my lips faster. This is a good product at tricking yourself into putting more on, then buying more cause your lips are still dry i use DCT... always will
