Jared315
uhhh Cause like other activities the divisional difference is no longer size but merit. You can have a corps with a large size of 15 year olds going against a Spartans squad with an average age of 18 and not be competitive at all. It depends on what program goals are and how you want to grow the program for the future. The old way was size and size alone. now is not the case. Good luck to all in '07, looks to be another good year for the activity minus that we lost a few.
corps fan
actually the DCI description of the divisions indicates it's completely financial, not merit based at all, but thanks for trying These size mandates are designed to offer more performance opportunities for more members without forcing any of the corps to expand beyond their financial means or competitive capabilities. Jared315
finanancial means OR competative capabilities! Most II / III do operate on the same budget and tour the same and when you get to the 70+ member range the choice is usally competative status. Not at all true. Only a handful of Division III corps tour as much as Division II corps. Most Division III corps are weekend corps until mid-late July, then a 2-3 week tour to finals. I see on the DCI calendar that H.Y.P.E. is taking their gold horns and "Dark Side of Oz" show on a slightly longer tour this year, including a journey south and and southwest to finals in Pasadena. Sounds like a fun summer for your corps. I really enjoyed your show last year and am looking forward to seeing your Pink Floyd/Oz program. Because you are not coming to the northeast this year, though, I may not be able to see your show until the Bakersfield focus show. See you in California. :) Best of luck to everyone at H.Y.P.E. for a happy and successful summer!
Slow Adam
Thanks. Don't be afraid to come up and introduce yourself. I'll be walking off the field after the drum line warm up, probably wearing a Vic Firth t-shirt. :)
