Goldsmith1210
get back to the days where they were blowing everybody out of the water. ala 94-99 They were very entertaining those years, but I don't think they blew anyone out of the water by any means. 96 and 97 were their best percussion years of the 90's. Now you want to talk about BD blowing everyone out of the water, it's all about 83 to 86.

Schickmeister
i like drums. you hit them and they make noise. a banging sound. :P love, a brass player :)
yellowbusredux
Not a very musical drum book...lots of beefy stuff, very chop-oriented, tons of rudimental-crazy notes, and quite a few ticks. On a personal note, i can't stand all that high playing with exagerated arm movements...enough already!!!!
Jeffe77
Finally, they brought home the drum trophy to Concord!! Congrats. Do they have the potential for another run at racking up more drum trophies over the next few seasons?
rut-roh
Not to take anything away from them, but I wasn't particularly blown away by any drumline this year. And aside from that nifty little feature BD had in the first half of the show this year with all that body movement, I didn't think they were all that amazing or memorable. Very good drumline, but nowhere near their best. But congrats for finally winning it with Dynasty drums.
silvertrombone
I figured it was only a matter of time before someone dug this one up. Congrats to Blue Devils drums--I stand corrected!!
SF2K4
Maybe the fact that there are other better drumlines....just a thought. Not to be a jerk to you, but in general, I'm tired of hearing this answer to basically everything. First off, it's simply a statement of, "I don't know why they aren't winning the title." which isn't very constructive. Two, if you just accept that there are "better" lines out there, how are you supposed to improve?
atlvalet
Has anyone thought of changing the snares on the Dynasty drums to see if that changes everything? I have a Premier free-float circa 1992, and the bottom snares are Prince Topspin tennis string. When I marched senior corps in '98, I think we had Yamaha or Pearl (I can't really remember...I think it was Pearl). Anyway, I thought the snare drums sounded like crap...so on a whim I went to the store and picked up some Prince Topspin. Changed all the snares on my drum...wallah! OMG, what a difference. Now, it didn't approach the level of sound my Premier produces, but IMHO, it made a noticeable difference. He's a question: Are all these corps using Dynasty because they're giving them free drums? Cause I agree, those drums sound like poop. Edited September 7, 2007 by atlvalet
