crashhelmi36
Awesome idea! ^OO^ Anyway... 1. 1999 SCV (High GE Total) 2. 1993 Star (High Brass, Percussion) 3. 2000 Cadets (High Visual, Guard, Spirit of Disney) 4(tie). 2003 Blue Devils (High GE Music) and 2001 Cavaliers (High GE Visual) 6. 2005 Phantom Regiment 7. 1995 Madison Scouts 8. 2006 Bluecoats 9. 2005 Carolina Crown 10. 2004 Boston Crusaders 11. 1984 Suncoast Sound 12. 1980 Spirit Nothing against '80 Spirit and '84 Sound, but if 1992 SCV was too "old-school" in 1992, an 80s show is certainly too old-school in 2007. There's certainly a place for them, though, and they're awesome for what they are. Bring on the next set! :) Edited February 24, 2007 by crashhelmi36
dcpguy1111
So far, 12th place is almost unanimous..~G~ Not really, but I'm sure you'd like that. 98.8 1993 Star of Indiana (it's only the best show of all time) 98.8 2003 Blue Devils (tie, because I really love of these shows) 97.8 1999 SCV (solid show) 97.4 2001 Cavaliers (not as good as their other 2000-era shows I think) 97.2 2006 Bluecoats (their best show yet!) 96.4 2005 Phantom Regiment (this is definitely a much better show than some will give credit for, Phantom's best show to date, I think) 92.7 2000 Cadets (eh) 90.3 2005 Carolina Crown (great stuff from Crown, seriously) 90.0 2004 Boston Crusaders (this was a solid show, they DID get 6th in visual if I recall correctly. Just because a show has narration in it doesn't mean you completely dump it. Not to mention the tight competition that year, they were the highest scoring 9th place corps to date. Didn't the top 9 break 90 that year?) 88.0 1995 Madison Scouts (...) 86.5 1984 Suncoast Sound (I'm going to be honest, I haven't seen this show) 85.5 1980 Spirit of Atlanta (this one too)
elphaba01
"History Rewrirte: The World Oopen 1964": Yeah, it's going back "A Bit", and most of you have no idea of "Who" some of these corps were but this show was a "Watershed" in the history of the activity. In the preceeding week, the Racine Kilties had won the VFW Nationals in a HUGE upsst, defeating every major power in the country. A couple of days later, at the NY World's Fair, the Chicago Royal Airs won their first National Championship, thanks to penalties to the St Kevin Emerald Knights and the Racine Kilties. The "Alternative Wolrd Open Finals": 1. 88.80 St Kevins Emerald Knights 2. 88.65 Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights 3. 88.40 Boston Crusaders 4. 87.60 Chicago Cavaliers 5. 87.55 Chicago Royal Airs 6. 87.20 Racine Kilties. 7. 82.30 St Josephs of Batavia 8. 81.00 St Lucys Cadets 9. 80.00 Selden Cadets 10.78.45 Bridgeport PAL Cadets St Joe's failed to make that years WO Finals. They had been an easy "Top 10" finisher at VFW and a "Top 5" finisher at the Worlds Fair show. How they missed the Bridgeport night show remains a mystery, even after all these years. The Casper Troopers were also a "Non Finalist" at the WO, having placed in the Finals at VFW and the "Top 6" at the Worlds Fair. They were allowed to perform in exibition at the World Open Finals, and completly gassed the crowd with their incredible marching, setting the stage for their World Open WIN in 1965. The "Real" Finals order of finish went: 1. Chicago Cavaliers 2. Blessed Sacrament 3. St Kevin Emerald Knights 4. Chicago Royal Airs 5. Boston Crusaders 6. Garfield Cadets 7. Racine Kilties 8. St Lucys Cadets 9. Selden Cadets 10. Brigdeport PAL Cadets One last bit of "Trivia": At VFW, the Kilties beat the 12th place Garfield Cadets by over ten points. In less than a week, Garfield came back and finished ahead of Racine. Think something like THAT could happen now? Elphaba WWW

elphaba01
whose/ what sheets would the be using? "Sheets to the Wind": The VFW Nationals and the Worlds Fair contests were both "VFW" shows, and "VFW" sheets were used. I can't remember "What" sheets/rules interperations were used for the World Open, but they may have been different. "Back in the Day", there were MANY different "Rulebooks", for the many different associations/jurisdictions that then existed. Slow Adam
Just because a show has narration in it doesn't mean you completely dump it. Actually, for me it does.

And, it was just an observation where the narration didnt even enter my mind...until now. Ha ! So, everyone else that placed them 12th did so for narration reasons ?? Get a grip, play, or dont, have fun or not, but everyone claims the threads turn into narration threads, here "I" am totally avoiding the topic, and you have to come and make it about just that..good work ! ~G~ (btw, BAC, sans narration was not that bad at all in 2004......)
