Einstein On The Beach
Loud loud loud loud, that's all drum corps people care about. "Who was the loudest hornline!?" "Who's has the loudest baritone solo!?!?" "Oh my god how many decibels louder are G bugle hornlines than Bb hornlines!??!" No one ever talks about tone or musicality. This thread will apply to any brass playing...hell woodwinds too. I heard a recording of Hindemith conducting his "Concert Music for Strings and Brass" a while ago, definitely some pristine brass playing going on there. Bud Herseth is the sound every trumpet player should be striving for. How about the opening of Cavies 2002? GMichael1230
Once again, and somewhat predictable, but true: 1991 Blue Devils. Chock full of Dynamics, layered sounds, just simply outstanding. 1992 Star of Indiana 1983 Madison Scouts 1983 Garfield Cadets 1985 Blue Devils 1985 Suncoast Sound ~G~

GMichael1230
Try some of these more obscure but extremely effective brass lines. 1982 Knights 1982 SkyRyders 1984 Spirit of Atlanta 1985 Les Eclipses 1983 Knights 1982 Valley Fever 1981 Guardsmen 1983 Boston Crusaders (all nineteen of them) 1988 Blue Knights 1987 FLorida Wave 1982 Colts 1986 27th Lancers ~G~

NR_Ohiobando
In terms of doing it every year, I think the Blue Knights deserve a lot of credit for the hornlines they put out.
