Sunmello8106
Drum Corps. Why do we do it? Why did we do it? Could you guys give me a little insight why we pay thousands to stand and march out in the sun, travel around with little to eat, all for the acheivments of gratification and a trophy? I had a conversation today with some people about drum corps, and I basically got ridiculed for participating in it. I think that was wrong (Of course I would, I'm a Contra player). --------------------------------------------------- It's like an incurable disease with various side effects of: Playing though that challenging a 6 measures without messing up. The feeling of accomplishment when you finally hit that marching dot you struggled with all season. The supporting your corp-mates by just being there. Could do without the constant yelling.... <**>

And you STILL need a haircut..you hippie!! :P B) It's always been about playing, the crowd and the people all over, both legends and non-legends that have come and gone...and are still there to continue. sopranoman6000
I do drum corps because it's one of the greatest activities I have ever done, the experiences are mind blowing, the people are incredible and the atmosphere at shows is just out of this year. Drum Corps. Why do we do it? Why did we do it? Could you guys give me a little insight why we pay thousands to stand and march out in the sun, travel around with little to eat, all for the acheivments of gratification and a trophy?I had a conversation today with some people about drum corps, and I basically got ridiculed for participating in it. Seems like we have it backwards. LOL In my case, It's because I've been around it since birth. It is sort of like an addiction as well. Addictions do tend to be expensive. At least it's healthy. LOL I'd planned on stepping out for the year, for medical reasons, but I really don't think I can.~whines~ Once this particular monkey gets on your back, it's extremely hard to shake it off. LOL What it all comes down to, is that individually, we all need a hobby. This is the best hobby I've ever had! Playing good music. Playing along side of such remarkable talent! Learning from the best. WOW! The traveling is cool, I'd missed that, but staying over in hotels is hard on the pocket book. Making new friends. This last 4 years have been the best! I think that, if it makes you happy, where's the harm? Hobby's cost money! You could get a paying job, working late hours in a bar or orchestra hall. I don't think that would be as fulfilling as drum corps. I like going to all the venues and interacting with all the other corps. The sense of family. Unity. The history! It works for me!
