  1. I was at finals in 2008 in Bloomington and I actually bought one extra seat next to me and people still seemed to squeeze into me....Just sit with your arms crossed
  2. There is one small problem with your logic....Boston also plays on Jupiter horns as well... Seriously?
  3. Seriously? I am not sure if I agree with amplified brass being good artistry at all...but if you say so I won't argue with your opinion about it...As a brass player myself I think amplified brass is a joke. I'm not sure how Chinese food relates here either...but since you want to use a food analogy I like oranges better than apples....yet I think both are still quite tasty fruit...
  4. I wonder how that solo in 2010 would have been NOT enhanced...
  5. The best soloist IMO this year was from the baritone player for Boston playing Bring Him Home WITHOUT being plugged-in. You are not EVER going to convince me that being plugged-in is needed at all...
  6. 1. Cadets 2. Crown 3. Boston Crusaders Honorable mention: Blue Knights
  7. I was just looking at the Boston Crusaders forum the other day and thinking that perhaps they should close that forum as well. People are either using Drum Corps Planet or Facebook these days. An inactive forum does not look well from a promotional standpoint. I feel corps website forums are obsolete in these times.
  8. The English translation for Ha-Makom y'nachem et'chem b'toch sha'ar aveilei Tzion v'Yerushalayim is "May God comfort you among the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem."
  9. The All-Cesario Awards(my placement): 1st Place - The Cadets 2nd Place - Carolina Crown 3rd Place - Boston Crusaders Honorable Mention - Madison Scouts These corps created a connection with me by being very melodic, mature, original, exciting, beautiful, lush, emotional, captivating, memorable, and polished.
  10. Try watching your corps video on VHS tape....I'm sure if you had to do that you wouldn't be complaining about DVD quality...
  11. What was so innovative and grounding breaking about the TOC events?...They had already done them in 2004.
  12. This generation just downloads to their iPod or thingymajig...
  13. I think it would be awesome if some of these ideas could be added to all the shows if "tweaked" just a little bit from what I've heard. Your right, it would actually be great to "value add" to the other shows as well. Obviously, I think the more you can make something FUN the better off it would be for everyone involved. On the other hand, I think maybe the purists(not speaking for them) may not like all the value added stuff who like just the competitive aspect. But I don't think that the competitive aspect ALONE can carry itself completely anymore. Perhaps some of the older traditions like trooping the stands could be brought back as well...
  14. Well under your definition that means Carolina Crown AND Bluecoats are both out...Madison in... < sarcasm/on> How convenient you have made it...lol...I'm quite sure that would go over real well with "the powers that be" and the Crown and BLOO fans as well... < sarcasm/off>
  15. This made me think of..."Whata manuvah" (along with the strong accent). I forgot where I first heard this...
  16. I find it quite ironic that the classification "Tour of Champions" itself was supposed to assist in marketing...yet it has created all these conflicting opinions and/or the need for the subtext.
  17. Well it's been quite a few years since I read this post (I lurked around here for a long time before I even created a username)...Some of these "fads" have died out...others have not...I recall resisting a few of these, but when push comes to shove I just truly love drum corps and couldn't imagine EVER leaving or to stop talking about it. I passionately talk about drum corps all the time...even if people think I'm a little crazy
  18. There are a few corps who have won championships in CYO/AL as well...Do we just discount that because it just happens to be pre-DCI era?
  19. The Cadets - To Tame The Perilous Skies....opps wrong year...still hear that music in my head along with Phantom of The Opera by Santa Clara Vanguard! 2011 Stuff... Boston - Do You Hear the People Sing Boston - Bring Him Home Boston - 1812 Blue Knights - English Folk Song Suite Carolina Crown - We Will Rock You Cascades - My Immortal Genesis - Send in the Clowns Jersey Surf - Kiss From a Rose Madison Scouts - Empire State of Mind Oregon Crusaders - Moonlight Sonata
  20. I think that MOST people would be happy with this clarification as well. The only real complaints I've seen dealt with the "length" of the show.
  21. We often hear the claim that our nation is a democracy. That wasn't the vision of the founders. They saw democracy as another form of tyranny. If we've become a democracy, I guarantee you that the founders would be deeply disappointed by our betrayal of their vision. The founders intended, and laid out the ground rules, for our nation to be a republic. The word "democracy" appears nowhere in the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution – two most fundamental documents of our nation. Instead of a democracy, the Constitution's Article IV, Section 4, guarantees "to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government." Moreover, let's ask ourselves: Does our pledge of allegiance to the flag say to "the democracy for which it stands," or does it say to "the republic for which it stands"? Or do we sing "The Battle Hymn of the Democracy" or "The Battle Hymn of the Republic"?
  22. Your looking at the code and saying well since I don't find it disrespectful...it must not be disrespectful at all...That is not how our US codes work. Have you ever heard ignorantia juris non excusat? I think they same applies here. Using your logic would then mean under this same code that the desecration of the flag must be "subjective" as well. "Whoever knowingly mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or ground, or tramples upon any flag of the United States shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both."
  23. For the record...The Code is compiled by the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the United States House of Representatives.
