mobrien
'81 too... and '82. To top it all off, they marched 6 in '84, but with only five guys in the line. One word - "Beano!!!" Edited May 3, 2012 by mobrien
SFZFAN
No, because Madison can do no wrong, in many people's eyes. Even over the top, patronizing tributes to a horrifying historical experience in our culture is PRAISED. Had the Cavaliers done MS show last year, there would have been a DCP meltdown. Way to stay classy there kid.
GeneralTsoChicken
Way to stay classy there kid. Oh, you mean like recreating 9/11 on a marching field. Even drawing out the twin towers in sets? Yes, I'm obviously the classless person in the duality of this scenario.

GeneralTsoChicken
So what about 6 man basslines again? It won't be a big deal. It may actually be better. I hope at some point in time we get a blatant bass feature, fully exposed.
Rifuarian
No, because Madison can do no wrong, in many people's eyes. Yes, there was extensive discussion. And it was pretty civil too, if I recall. Even over the top, patronizing tributes to a horrifying historical experience in our culture is PRAISED. Please explain the bolded text. Be sure to show your work. Had the Cavaliers done MS show last year, there would have been a DCP meltdown. No.
Jocko the Wonder Llama
It is always a fun effect when you put more drums on the field than most people are used to seeing/hearing. Madison '96 (8 tenors) Crossmen '95 (10 bass drums in feature at the end) Madison '98 (All snares and tenors started on snare, if I remember correctly) Just to name a few. SCV marched 8 tenors back in '80. (4 high quads/4 low quads)
GeneralTsoChicken
SCV marched 8 tenors back in '80. (4 high quads/4 low quads) A very underrated show. 7th Place or not, that was a great show. Fanfare, especially.
rudi man
Well kids don't leave Glassmen out of the picture I can't remember the year but it was in the mid to later 80's the corps marched 10 snares 6 multi's and 6 basses + maybe 5 or 6 cymbals maybe someone can put a pic of that line up ? MikeN
Regarding 20 contras - honestly, I don't think brass people care about numbers as much (and there actually was quite a bit of discussion on here when they did that). Battery numbers have been so entrenched for decades, though, that it's noteworthy when a corps breaks away from the norm. I know a few corps have marched 4 basses out of necessity. I can't recall a single (World Class/Div 1) line that's done 3 in the last 25 years. Am I forgetting someone? Mike
