Just a few quick questions for all drum corps fans, alumni, potential staff and members.

If a Tampa area corporation ( former Suncoast supporter ) was to support a Suncoast Sound return to DCI with some working capital, musical equipment new for all sections, a business Board of Directors in place, new uniforms and transportation to start out of the gate:

a) Would this be accepted by alumni?

b) Who (Director) would be interested in the day to day operation of the corps including staff, support staff, volunteers and adhere to a strick working budget?

c) Would old staff and designers support the corps return and or even provide service?

Public opinion matters to a certain degree thus the post but we are also trying to get genuine feedback from those in the drum corps world that have worked with, supported and marched with Suncoast Sound over the years. Based on this feedback we would then make a decision only if we thought that a "new" Suncoast Sound could only hope to become once again a drum corps fan favorite with a strong competitive desire.

Please respond.

I have a few questions as I'm sure a lot of people will.

1) Would they be able to come back under the original name of Suncoast Sound?

2) Since the "prospective" corporate sponsor if from the Tampa area, would the corps be based in Tampa?

3) Is the sponsor Circle K ?

4) Would they try to come back as world class?

1- Suncoast Sound name can be used doing business as.....new non-profit

2- Yes, the Tampa area, the corporate offices are here.

3- No, not Circle "K" but regionally as large

4- Not sure but we would follow the path DCI if this happens

I'm always for the return of a corps. Especially if they have a solid plan behind their return. If there's any service I can offer, given things go through, send me a pm.

Let's turn the questions around--

Why wouldn't former members and staff support the corps? :omg:

That would be awesome... I can't speak for alumni, but if a new organization was well-run and committed to the traditions and ideals of the old one, I'm sure they'd get behind it.

And yeah... hiring Robert W Smith to arrange would go a long way towards making it an authentic spiritual successor.

Dunno about directors, but if you wanted to make an aspiring uniform designer's day, shoot me a PM ;)... Navy blue, metallic gold, and white? Mmmmmm.... clean.

Just out of curiosity, how close is Tampa to other Florida corps? Would starting a corps there effect other corps?

I do love the idea of a corps "coming back", but why not start from scratch? What is the thought process on bringing back a name of a corps, when the resources available could be used to support a corps already on track for world class, like Teal Sound.

I do like the idea of starting with a real plan, and getting things right in the administation. The last time Suncoast attempted a comback it ended in catastrophy and spoiled a lot of people's summers.

WOW, this would be great for DCI and Florida. Teal Sound is 3.5 hours away, they will be fine.

I think we are all aware of how many drum corps members from corps all over the country come from FLORIDA.

We can only wish!
