Here in Detroit, we're all excited for the Red Wings and how they have a chance to win the Stanley Cup tonight. On the radio this morning, a local talk show host was talking about how some players would refuse to touch the Stanley Cup unless they actually won it (if they were in the same room with it). He said that he wouldn't want to touch it either, because it has to be EARNED.

Are there any things in drum corps that are sacred like that? The one thing I can think of is that many corps have a rule that member jackets should only be worn by members, or staff, or alumni. Nobody else, not parents or girlfriends. Can anyone else think of anything else?

I remember in the late 90s (being the "era" that I marched)...while in uniform...many corps members would not talk to other corps members that were in their unit's uniform.

Dont know if thats in line with your question though.

Not really in line with my question. I'm asking about priveleges that you have because you're a member of a corps, something that has to be earned by being a member. Something you couldn't do if you weren't a member of that corps.

And I didn't know any corps had a policy like the one you described. I marched in the mid 90's and I didn't know of any corps doing that, unless they were at attention, and then they wouldn't talk at all.

It's the name of the Trooper's goat from the late sixties, right?

Ha, is there ANY validity to that story?
