When will CD's begin shipping?

According to dci.org shop...

World Championships CDs are tentatively scheduled for shipment on or about Labor Day

Anyone heard anything as to when they will ship? Is it just me or does it take longer every year to do cd's and especially dvd's?

I would probably contact DCI directly, since most people on here can not give an exact date. Maybe a random guess though.

CD's are shown on the shopping portion of DCI's website to ship anyday now. To me, though, they actually seem to ship MUCH earlier than in years past, but that's what worries me. I remember when we used to have to wait while the audio was being "engineered" for optimum listening experience. With the advent of the APD's being offered almost as soon as the corps march off the field, I worry that the audio is simply being run through a quick easy-button audio filter and put on a disc. I still hear the #### lights humming on last years CDs, so I just ended up ripping the audio from the DVDs and using those instead

I for one am glad it appears DCI is taking more time with the CDs this year. THey've felt rushed, and with less quality over the last couple of years - and especially 2006. I say, take your time & get them right!

This is gonna sound like a politician's response, but....

It depends on what DCI's definition of "about" is. On the DCI site it states that CD's will begin shipping "on or about Labor Day." Obviously "on" is out of the question at this point, and their definition of "about" is apparently getting broader the longer we go. Of course, the legitimate fallback they have is that the site alst states "tentatively".

Personally, if I'm going to say "on or about," I mean "if not on the day of, then within 3-4 days thereafter." Otherwise, I don't give a specific reference point and leave it more general, such as "around mid-September" etc. Having said that, it's only been a little more than a week, and I honestly did not anticipate them getting the CD's out before or on Labor Day. However, if we get to the point where we are 2 weeks from the date they mentioned and the orders haven't even been processed yet, then I feel we're dealing with a different situation and set of expectations. I can understand that shipping issues can always come up, but the order not even begin processed yet is a different issue.

But - did they say which Labor Day?

I did talk to somebody and they said about another week to ten days. (It was an off the record conversation and I promised I wouldn't tell - so don't repeat this.)

This is still way better than the old days when I used to get my DCI LP's for Christmas.

I have heard around two or three more weeks from DCI. I emailed them to find out.

"World Championships CDs are scheduled to begin shipment October 1, 2008. DVD products are tentatively scheduled for shipment in Novermber(sic) 2008. "
