OldStyleCorps Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 (edited) Both will be having an Open House ETC today. Should be Interesting what kind of numbers they each get. A Great Day for the people of Southern California. GOOD LUCK ( maybe one day SoCal Dream and Renegades will be joined by these other groups also. LA City Sound - Freelancers - EnGarde, and have a DCA Pacific. That would be 6 counting the Kingsmen. ) Edited January 4, 2009 by OldStyleCorps

DoctorNik Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 hmmmm theres more 'drum corps' in DCA corps.. than any other i'm aware of... synth you're on the sugject..
tubadon Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Is anyone interested in marching in an actual bugle corps in SoCal? (DCA marching bands don't count) Since Dream marches all G bugles I'm not sure what group you're referring to. Personally, I'm happy to see more Drum and Bugle Corps of all shapes and sizes in SoCal. Good luck to all.
darkman Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Is anyone interested in marching in an actual bugle corps in SoCal? (DCA marching bands don't count) I don't know where you get your information from Guy... But Dream still play on G Bugles...
84BDsop Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Is anyone interested in marching in an actual bugle corps in SoCal? (DCA marching bands don't count) Uhhh...Guy? The only Bb horn EVER on the field with SoCal Dream was Phil Norris' trumpet, and he hasn't been part of Dream for a few years. I would prefer for En Garde to be G myself....but since the core (no pun intended) is the school program we're trying to buhild out of, I have to use teh Bbs available (including the new marching tubas....at least they're left-shoulder jobs) We're trying to set up that planning meeting again...I had to wait for the marching band season to finish and school to restasrt so we could get the school.
Just Another Sop Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) Is anyone interested in marching in an actual bugle corps in SoCal? (DCA marching bands don't count) Wow! Since we all know you are part of The Kingsmen, you must be saying that the K-men are the only real corps and that the rest of DCA is just marching bands. That is a great way to start your freshmen season of begin a senior/All-Age corps; by insulting the governing body of senior/All-Age corps. If this is the attitude it takes to be in an "actual" drum corps, I think I will pass and go with one of the existing outstanding DCA corps. Besides, they are actual drum & bugle corps. Rocketman Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Is anyone interested in marching in an actual bugle corps in SoCal? (DCA marching bands don't count) Guy, why? What purpose does it serve to make this remark (other than to alienate others)? I believe a modicum of restraint is in order until such time as the corps actually competes on the field. Until then, any such commentary is unnecessary and, IMO, classless. A more appropriate post might have read, "the Kingsmen Senior Drum & Bugle is excited to be part of the ever growing contingent of corps in California, and we look forward to competing against SoCal Dream, Renegades, and others. If you want to be part of the excitement, stop by a Kingsmen rehearsal. Kingsmen Senior Drum and Bugle Corps - Class is Back in Session!” This isn't high school, so let's not drag it down to that level.
CrunchyTenor Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I don't know where you get your information from Guy... But Dream still play on G Bugles... So do Renegades. Garry in Vegas
