  1. 1983 Whitewater! July 30, everyone was there. Prelims/finals in one day, 37 shows total.
  2. In '88, non alum staff was Chris Thompson (percussion arranger, Xmen), Marc (Max) Jacoby (Muchachos, front ensemble) and... as I recall that's it. Can't think of anyone on brass, vis, or guard.
  3. Does anyone know where in the KC area the Scouts are rehearsing tomorrow and Tuesday? Thanks!
  4. I was at the '89 concert finals week in Kansas City when the Phantom hornline played with the KC Symphony. The orchestra started Elsa's. Halfway through or so the horns came up, chilling. By the end I think half the string sections ears were blown off! They played the whole show (in uniform) outside, across the way from the concert hall with percussion. Pretty cool! I'm sure some of the orchestral players were impressed with the sound!
  5. 1989 Suncoast- 54.9 first show, 90.2 Semis, 88.0 Finals.
  6. Todd Ryan wrote the Madison '88 drill as well and I believe was at Star in '91 with Zingali. Great guy!
  7. While teaching second grade, I have occasionally dusted off and worn my 2006 Madison Alumni Project uniform. Always a hit!
  8. Uniform? CHECK!
  9. If I recall... You could put them down on the field in '81, but everything had to be on the field (no pit area on the sidelines). Most everyone marched 4 keyboards (except maybe Garfield? One other who grounded concert instruments?) but had one timpanist grounded. 27 marched the timps, and they were awesome (glad I didn't have to carry them...). 82 saw the creation of the pit area. For a while, instrumentation stayed the same- bells, xylo, vibes, marimba, and a timpanist, with one or two concussionists- for most corps. and then 2v 2m, then...then...then...
  10. Dear Japan, Please consider hiring Michael Gaines and/or BDE to help coordinate your opening ceremony. Thank you.
  11. I wish they'd keep them- love the darker sound. Sounding great guys!
  12. Awesome news! The real question: does the original Lemon Squeeze shirt he wore every day for years still exist? (I own one, btw, and wouldn't sell it for ((almost)) any price)
