  1. Could have gone to Cavies in 74 but joined the Army instead. At first I just planned on three years and out and then join Boys of 76. However, I stayed for 21, and then waited four years after I was out to go to Kilties. If not Kilties, probably nothing.....Cabs and Govies were just too far.
  2. I would suggest Scooter Pirtle and Ken Norman.
  3. Just for Mike Davis---Ice Castles! There's some things that could be done to modernize some oldies but goodies-- Camelot Sound of Music King and I Brigadoon My Fair Lady etc etc
  4. No No No and No!! That was our worst opener ever...no, that was our worst 3/4 of a show ever.
  5. Minor Booze....been a long time since I played that (that was the first Kenton chart I ever played)......wonder what could be done visually with it.
  6. I have that one.....I always thought it was funny on the back cover where it says "drug major" instead of "drum major"
  7. Illinois Top 4 1966 with Cavaliers, Royal Airs, Vanguard and Norwood Park Midwest Preview 1970 with Blue Stars, Kilties, Madison and Racine Scouts VFW Nationals 1971, all three volumes Wheeling, IL show, 1971 with Cavaliers, Santa Clara, Troopers, Blue Stars and Madison. Was weird because you have to flip the record over half way through Blue Star's show.
  8. Competition keeps things interesting no matter how popular or esoteric corps are.
  9. That could also be used to hide deficiencies in the ensemble. Just stay away from open flames...I don't think are legal in DCI.....yet
  10. Leading the way makes it sounds like it's something to be proud of....just like here in Wisconsin we're suppose to be proud that this was the first state in the nation to enact a progressive income tax.
  11. Yep...it means we're toast! And India and China with their multi-trillion GDP's and their <$10,000 per capita will rule.
  12. No, I understand it...and I know that the debt to GDP ratio is pushing 95% right now. Once it gets over 100%, things won't be good, as if they are now.
  13. In South Milwaukee in 1973, Vanguard did their battle scene which left half the guard on the ground playing dead. The medics and EMT's on the sidelines came running out on the field. People in the stands were yelling "IT'S PART OF THE SHOW!!!" Obviously, they were relieved that it was part of the show...but it was funny to watch!
  14. Joe Average Fan isn't concerned with GDP. It's just some big number that's difficult to comprehend. The average person isn't going to think "oh, GDP is down .3% for the first quarter, so I should cut back on things." They're going to look at do I have a job? How secure is it? Can I afford to travel all over with the gas prices pushing $4? How much higher are other prices--food, hotels, flights? Sure, they are all part of GDP, but most people are only aware of their circumstances and how much things cost and where the money is coming from.
  15. GDP isn't the best thing to judge the economic affects on attendance. Things like unemployment, median income, gas prices, inflation, etc would have more of an impact.
  16. 71 Legion Nationals finals in Houston, my rotar stuck and made my solo in Golden Slumber sound pretty weird because there were a few #'s that could only be played with a rotar. 72 somewhere, Dave Richards gave me four ticks on my solo in Zipadeedodah. 10 years later, we just happened to be on the same plane headed for Montreal for DCI. I told him about it and he told me--you deserved it! Thanks alot Dave--I thought.......and he's probably right!
  17. They looked like bell hops and all I could picture was "Call for Phillip Morris!"
  18. I'll have to check those out! Thanks for the info on them!
