Great pickup by Spirit. Will the rest of last years brass staff remain in place? Just curious as I marched with Scott Stewart in Freelancers.

WHEY HEY!! It only took 16 responses for someone to come up with the Freelancers. I mean we were only a 10 time DCI finalist! What did WE ever contribute to the history of the activity?

Having marched with Kelli in Freelancers, I can say she has without a doubt "EARNED" her buckle many times over!

I just think that this whole thread is a bit pointless and smacks of bad sportsmanship. The Blue Devils won because a PANEL of judges thought they were BETTER than The Cadets. Is that the end of the world? I think not! Perhaps if The Cadets design staff stopped picking such controversial stuff to put on the field, then they would be rewarded differently. Personally I thought that the Devs show was better, their horns sounded better and I wasnt so distraced when watching them. The Cadets had a fantastic hornline but I was too distracted listening to the narration. That is not to say anything about narration in general, but rather in this instance!

And of course they didn't master what they did musically and visually!! Sheesh!! How bloody disrespectful can you be? Way to go Blue Devils. As a former NorCal competitor and now fan, way to go!! I am proud to call myself a Devs Supporter!!

Awesome review. Interesting take on the Coats show and I found the narration comments at the very least intruiging!

So refreshing to finally see an un-biased review here on DCP!

I suppose I could do that but I also thought I was pretty clear at the outset that I only wanted people to volunteer IF they could get a ballot in every week. This is what I was afraid would happen. That said, if it will get the votes in I will do a reminder (even though I dont think I should have to).

I have noticed since we started doing the Power Poll a consistent drop in the number of ballots received each week. The first week of voting I received approximately 95% of the ballots I was expecting, the next week it was 80, after that 75 and last week it was around 70 percent. This week however, for whatever reason, that has dropped below 50%. I have received a number of PM's wanting to know where the poll was. Unfortunately, I have made the decision NOT to publish the poll this week. I kept voting open til this morning but when all was said and done, I had only 9 ballots in the D1 poll, 7 in the D2/3 poll and about a half dozen for DCO. With such a drop in numbers, any poll I would have put out would have seriously skewed results. So..... Next week, I implore ALL of the pollsters that come Hell or High Water, to PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get you votes in as it will be the last poll for the year as we go into Finals. If you have any problems or concerns, please let me know straight away and I will look at getting an alternate in place. Sorry I had to make this decision but I do hope you all understand.

I am a bit biased but I thought that our version of Batman in 1990 was pretty sick!

I called Coats for the Championship at the beginning of the year and I am still standing by that!

I think the state of the Scouts is they wont make Finals and they may miss Semis but they are entertaining and for that I applaud them.

I still say that of all the stadiums they could have picked in California, or heck just LA for that matter the Rose Bowl was the worst possible choice!

You know I have been waiting for this discussion... I am an old school guy. I marched in the eighties and nineties. I was the most anti electronics guy you would have been able to come across. I would rather we didn't have them but they ARE here now and there is nothing I can do about it. I grew up with this activity and I love it still with all my fiber and being. That said, I do think that if we are gonna have electronics, then they should be judged on the same criteria as we do the other captions. Drum corps is all about one single word... EXCELLENCE. Excellence in all we do must carry over to all aspects of the performance. Staff and judges dont tolerate bad horn attacks, or tone quality. They dont tolerate dirty beats or drops in the guard. They dont tolerate dirty marching or phasing, so why do they overlook poor quality when it comes to the use of amplified voice? Why do they tolerate overamped pits (Cavies 05 comes to mind)? The problem you run into is that amplification is an option and not a requirement. Not all corps use amps (i think) and therefor you cant create its own caption or subcaption so where do you award or deduct the points from?
