I dont want to sound like a chiding parent here, but I was really disappointed this week as I only recieved SEVEN ballots back from my DCA voters. The minimum I need to make the poll viable is 10, so this weeks poll is unofficial. DCA has some of the most passionate fans out there so I kinda expected my inbox to be smoking. We need to get this up to at least 10 next week or I will not include DCA, just Junior corps. That said it made for some interesting reading. Cabs took all the first place votes and Kilts just snuck in. Someone even voted for RCR! Discuss...

Just thought I would open a thread for discussion on the Week 1 Power Poll for Division 2/3... Had Jersey Surf not spoiled the party, it would have been an exact split on 1st place votes for BDB and Spartans. Might they make a push later in the season>? Also, VK is knocking on the door of the Top 10 having just narrowly missed out on gaining a Top 10 spot after their first week of competition. Discuss.....

No this is not the DCP Power Poll. This was done of the thread starters own back. I would ask that we leave these kinds of polls to the "official" DCP Power Poll though. Thanks!

There was a time when drum corps played bugles and these were referred to by their choir voice names. What we now call trumpets was once referred to as sopranos. Tubas were contrabasses, baritones and euphoniums were baritones. The interesting part of the hornline was the alto section which could contain a number of different instruments. In the 80's it was not at all uncommon to see corps marching french horns, mellophones and flugel horns all in the same hornline. These were commonly called "Altos" or the alto section, because they were the mid voice in the brass choir. Heck, BD even invented their own horn called the Meaphone to kinda incorporate all 3 voices into one. Hope this helps.

My opinions have not changed. I knew SCV would come out of the gate strong. I am a *little* bit surprised about BD. I still think that come finals, Coats will be in with a chance. I think it is gonna be tough year for Cadets and perhaps they are just a bit too over the top with the narration. Seems as if the show is designed AROUND narration rather than using narration to enhance an already good show. That is gonna be hard to fix. Phantom, Crown, Blue Knights Southwind, Pioneer and Cavies right about where I thought they'd be. Colts look like they mean business. Blue Stars looking real good, They are definitely one of the big boys now and I absolutely LOVE the new look. Spirit I am a bit disappointed about. Love the new look though. With Scott Stewart on board he will get that hornline LOUD! Mandarins looking good but I think there may be some inflation of the scores out on the left side of the map.

At Sac, we would all just get our kit off right there on the field at the last run through of 10-10's. Didnt care who was there either!!

Looking at the menu's at Colts, they eat a LOT of applesauce. I like applesauce. Especially on pork chops!

AFAIK, Vanguard, Cavies, BD, Phantom and I may be wrong but Crossmen are not changing.

As far as what I have seen so far... BLUECOATS... People keep complaining that they have gone for a BD look. I disagree. Yes they have gone black on the pants but to me that just goes with the police image better. These guys have been knocking on the door of the DCI elite for a few seasons now and achieved elite status last year. To me this is a bold new look that says "we belong" and it is my tie for my favourite so far along with..... THE CADETS... THANK GOD! This uniform should have NEVER been touched in the first place. Heck I could possibly even overlook some of the silly narration, oh wait, nevermind, I still HATE the narration but they sure do look good! SPIRIT...They are not Spirit of Atlanta anymore nor have they been for quite some time. Love the uniforms but even though I am an old school guy I would have mabey even made the delta on the sleeve less obvious or perhaps mabey just put the Delta on the shako only. Perhaps now they can stop being compared to the past and build there own identity for once! ^OO^ COLTS...Not much to say on this one except that it is a definite improvement. A ton of red but I like that. Very modern and certainly NOT cookie cutter. Pic I saw was without plumage but I hope they dont do what EVERYONE else does and go with black. White would look fantastic! ^OO^ MADISON...Yuck. HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE THIS UNIFORM!!! My momma once said if you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all. Werent Troopers supposed to be getting new duds? And as far as Scouts... I absolutely HATE that uniform. Love the corps, HATE the uni.
