Anybody notice that THe Cadets have JJ Watt on mellophone? Seriously.. one of their mellos is HUGE and built like a proverbial brick outhouse!

I actually said in a FB chat that I thought they sounded a bit flat (not tuning... ie no energy), though the second half of the show seemed to ramp up.

Well... Colts just nailed down a place in top 12.. lets see if Crest can pull away from the rest of that pack now as well...

Colts just laid down a gauntlet... It WAS a race for the last two finalist spots, but I think that race has just lost one of those landing spots and its now a race for 12th only. THAT is ABSOLUTELY a finalist show... And I am generally not a Colts fan.

SOLID run by Scouts. Gonna be an absolute dogfight for 12th... Shame they couldnt have shifted intermission to allow Scouts to compete with their grouping.

Devs are in a no win situation here... If they take what he says at face value and don't boot him, they are viewed as being somehow complicit or even worse, they are viewed as prioritising competition over an alleged victim (and I am purposefully using the word alleged here as that is what she is... nothing at all has been proven either way). On the other hand, if they boot him he's seen as having "done it" until proven otherwise. This was probably the only kinda ok outcome

Then if you are so inclined you know where to go get the information. DCP is not the place for whipping the pitchfork brigade up into a frenzy. If that is the sort of thing you are into might I suggest RAMD as that is probably more your speed.

You cant see all the blatant personal attacks in this thread that have been removed or hidden by the mods. When I look at threads, I can see all those hidden and removed posts in pink. My page has more pink than white when scrolling through this thread. Unfortunately, this thread has been subject to hijacking attempts more or less continually since it was started. It gets to a point where the forum support team simply cannot keep up and at that point (which is rapidly approaching on this thread I might add) and only then will we consider killing a thread and starting a fresh one. That said, some of your brother alumni are unfortunately VERY toxic.

Let's talk about "inane comments" shall we? There is no need to add girls for drum corps to be inclusive. In fact, sometimes exclusivity is a good thing. I would suggest girls that who want to march with the Madison Scouts would in fact not only feel excluded but would in fact BE excluded if they weren't allowed in based solely on their reproductive organs. It's a backward principle and even the actual Scouting BSA is now gender inclusive. Lest you also forget there was a time (not that long ago in the grand scheme of things) when black people were excluded from certain establishments or had to use separate facilities. Sometimes exclusivity can be downright toxic and there is no place for it in modern society. A particular bonding happens when males spend nearly every waking hour together. Codswollop... a particular bonding also happens when a group of YOUNG PEOPLE sharing a common goal, hardships, and successes spend time together, and having male or female genitalia has NOTHING at all to do with that level of bonding. Since you're from the UK, you may not "get" American men. Might want to actually do a bit of research pal. I'm not British. I am an American. I grew up in California and also marched in a DCI top 12 corps for 6 seasons. I also served in the United States Air Force and I even still have an American passport. While I happened to marry a British woman and now live here, I still like hot dogs, root beer and American football and as an added bonus, I am also a man, so yeah, I think I may "get" American men. They ARE NOT in contention for a Saturday night gig. They are slipping, and those in their rearview mirror are closer than they appear. They are currently in 17th place 3 points out of 12th and less than 1 point out of 13th. They are absolutely in contention. It's about a long tradition that changed the lives of countless boys and turned them into productive and successful men. Yeah, because none of the literal hundereds of THOUSANDS of young women who ever marched ever became succesful as a result of things they learned in their time in drum corps. Letting all of the immigrants into the UK seemed like a "good" thing because you'all were being inclusive, but the No-Go Zones and rise in crime show that it was a short-sighted decision. Are you REALLY gonna go there? What do you know about British society and "no-go zones"? They don't exist pal (despite what you may THINK you know). No go zones are the imaginary creation of certain right wing media outlets. Statistically, the VAST majority of crime in the UK is committed by young white males. I feel FAR safer on the Curry Mile in Manchester on a Saturday night than I do in the city centre and the food is BANGIN! NOW.... getting back on topic. i happen to really like Madison's show this year and its been a while since I said that. Its nice to see them competing in a really tight battle for 12th and I am sure that whoever makes it out of this dogfight will do so by the skin of their teeth.

My preference is simple.. you do you and I'll do me. I can only control what I can control. Now that being said.. I have been in a dogfight for 12th and been in an undefeated season. If I HAD to choose one of those two scenarios, well, the view is better from the front of the bus than it is from the back.

I'm what some would refer to as a dinosaur. I marched back in the 80s and 90s and I am now getting comfortable in my 50something skin. So most would expect me to be part of the G Bugle brigade. That said... It was long past time for the Madison Scouts to join the modern world and add girls and I think its long past due that the Cavaliers do the same. Drum corps is supposed to be a welcoming and inclusive environment and that includes ALL regardless of gender, sexual orientation etc etc... Adding girls should not have meant the corps needed to give up their identity as the Madison Scouts. They are still the Scouts even with female members. The problem with the Scouts of recent years is that they have tried to dislodge themselves from the programming pigeonhole they were stuck in and that would inevitably lead to some uncomfortable and questionable choices. Last I checked, they were last in finals in 2017. Since then, we have had a lost season and an abridged non-competitive season so in reality we are talking about three years. The corps is still going and still putting out a good product. The last three years that they missed finals, their scores were actually HIGHER than 2017, so let's keep things in perspective. This year they are in contention for a finalist spot so it really isn't all doom and gloom.... Unless you hate ovaries that is...

SUcks that they couldn't have shifted Intermission back by one corps and let Spirit compete with the rest of the World Class corps... It's competitively a disadvantage to perform before the break.

According to several websites I have just checked, the AQI (Air Quality Index) currently ranks Detroit as having the 4th worst air quality in the world RIGHT NOW. Chicago is currently number 2 and Minneapolis is 5. Three of the top 5 worst AQI scores WORLDWIDE are currently all in the upper Midwest. I mean we are talking air quality only marginally better than Delhi India. If DCI GENUINELY stands for the safety of the performers and audiences first and foremost, there is NO WAY that this show can be allowed to continue. ANY other call would be reckless and irresponsible.
