  1. Hehe, yeah it'll be nice to see you guys on the field. I truely hope you get out there and have a good summer. Best of luck.
  2. Come out and join the fun. Though I must admit, we have one dark show, and I love it.
  3. That's awesome and congrats. I wish you the best of luck with the money though. Tis so hard to come by nowadays.
  4. Hey I agree with you on that point. I do think a lot of the corps in open class have quite a distinct identity, and in truth is one of the reason they servive becuase they draw members that are attracted to that particular identity. As to the "Main theme of World Class", that is not what I said or asked. I was asking if the shows of open class, in your open, are starting to become similar and follow a main theme in the past couple of years. Whether it be a visual or musical theme.
  5. With listening to one of the recent field passes, where some of the top world class corps directors and staff talked about corps identity, I was curious to see what it is like in the open class. Do you feel that each corps in open class has their own distinct identity now adays and their own personal way of connecting to the crowd, or do you feel that open class is starting to meld into on main theme that is being represented through all the corps in competition today? If you wish to listen to the field pass then here's the Link
  6. Haha, hi muzz. Tis the third euph player that didn't actually have a euph to play on. Oh, and the director thing, heh, tis a fantasy corps I have on this site.
  7. SCV '04 The show that got me completely hooked on Drum Corps
  8. Mkay, first off, just like corps members don't like being called band members, a lot of Marines I know do not at all like being refered to as soldiers. Soldiers are the army and Marines are well the Marines. Second, this kinda thing for some reason just doesn't quite sit right with me, if you truly want to talk about hard work and determination try getting a pic of a retreat. At least in my mind that just sits better cause that is where it all pays off. Such as this:
  9. I think Madison Scouts did "City of Angels" in 1992. I might be wrong though.
  10. I think Crossmen and Madison along with The Academy and Blue Stars are going to be jumping around eachother for finals positions all season. That chase is going to be a fun one to watch. Though I think SCV is gonna push back into the top 3 with Carolina Crown edging right behind them. Either way, this is gonna be a very fun year to watch.
  11. Even though I repsect all the corps in comp it was BD that got me interested but SCV is the corps that actually got me hooked into the activity. The raw emotion that they put into their shows is just astounding and something that is quite deserving of my respect and I always look forward to seeing what they put onto the field that season. So my order would be: SCV BD Cadets Cavaliers
  12. I would hate to be an age out from last season if this rule passes, just cause that means you woulda had a chance at an extra season but it was just outta reach because it doesn't go into effect until 2009.
  13. It is hard to get the military to sponser anything mainly because of the two stated reasons above, the money (which comes from taxes), and that they don't like to put their name directly into too many things, mainly cause of the possible backlash of the tax payers saying that "we are putting our money into your program and this is what you are investing it in." Who knows for sure though. The only exceptions right now are the Marine Corp Drum and Bugle Corps and the sponsership of the All American Marching Band by the Army (as previrously stated above).
  14. Hey, does anyone else think that this show concept is sorta like a more in depth view of the Cadets 2000 show presentation? With the look at the progressions through life.
  15. Yeah, that in my opinion is rude. Clapping is to me a way of expressing either understanding or respect for what the kids from that corps or group have gone through to perform for us as an audience. Now if it is something I like or love then, a cheer or a standing ovation is called for but clapping is just a show of respect to me.
  16. I'm curious Tom, why are you so hell bent on the destruction of Div. II/III?
  17. I'm curious, why do you want woodwinds passed? Not to bag on them (I used to play one but I switched so I could join corps) but their parts are pretty much already covered either through the pit or the trumpets and mellos in the corps. There really isn't too much of a reason or need from a musical standpoint in my opinion. I mean, I would love to have more people march (and hopefully that would also me larger corps for Div. II/III) but it makes you feel that much better after doing your last show knowing that previously you wouldn't have been able to cause of the instrument you played. Knowing that all the effort you put into that new horn or technique is just that much more worth it cause you had to fight just that extra bit. So I'm pretty much against the intro of woodwinds into drum corps. Though I must say that I do like the 22 age rule.
  18. I would love to hear them play Cowboy Bebop, that would be an awesome show, and BD is the only corps I think that could pull it off.
