  1. Yes it will be on the west coast, which is overdue! I'm happy about that. The Rose Bowl is too big,it will diminish finals... I really hope that the avatar bit with the cat attacking the child was not staged? If it was, it is bordering on child abuse!......
  2. By posting a bugus repetoire, I was just trying to illustrate the pettiness of some of the posters, and to try to end it by by being ridiculous! Bawker went one better, and had me laughing for about twenty minutes. It is now another day, and I'm still smiling at the picture and comments of the pipeline guy.....
  3. A guy who was at the camp just called me! Boston will be marching 94 horns,12 snares, ten tenors, and ten bass, along with 1 drum major. there will be eight guard members, who will do the entire show on two trampolines located on both thirty yard lines.. They will be playing favorite songs sung by the builders of the Alaska Pipeline... Finally, now we know!
  4. You printed out just about everything I was thinking! Very much a factual description of what helped to BUILD drumcorps to its height. thanks
  5. There is nothing negative meant by the comment! What I am saying, is that whatever has happened is now out in the open, the powers that be know that this cannot be tolerated, and steps are being taken to insure that this type of situation does not ever happen again. Having said that,my point is that there several people that will not let this go! It is time for Pioneer to prepare the corps for the upcoming season, and to do so without this ongoing albatross and what is becoming a social stigma hanging around their neck....
  6. This post at the moment has had 4172 hits. Now if you multiply this by five or ten, which would be a reasonable amount of other persons told about this by a viewer, this would come 41,720 persons. This number should be sufficient to end the existence of Pioneer once and for all!
  7. If everyone involved in drum corps were given a psychiatric examination, there would be too few people left to keep the activity functioning..
  8. Katerina Witt in her prime.. to a guy that plays hockey, she is what figure skating was/is all about!!
  9. Interesting that the Phantom debt thread was closed, but this thread is allowed to run?
  10. I will take the govt to task,I'm paying taxes too! and have been for a long time! We in the U.S. pay more $$ to educate a child than any other nation in the world, and still rank 11th in literacy. We paid a person like Ahmed Chalabi $345.000 a month till we found out he was a faker! We also sent $6,000,000 in duffel bags to you know where to piece of local pols. Cancer research is swimming in money and that is a good thing! Katrina victims are being taken care of. We need to start rewarding the young people that are carrying the ball and maintaining standards in this country, they are our investment, and the people that will continue to keep this country functioning at a sensable and productive level,If we do not ,then we have another problem...
  11. The hard fact of the matter is that organizations like drum corp, nonprofit sport organizations, and other youth and social activities are all in jeopardy under the present system we now suscribe to. Unlike years ago, when organizations like drum corp would have been thought of as a benefit to the community that were building character and structure for our youth, it is no longer looked at in that vein. There is no consideration any longer, and no support either financially or morally from any of our governments, be it state ,or national Lets face it ,there is not any consideration from tax people that they are ending the participation of 500 young people (velvet knights-Troopers,and others) from character building activities because of some miniscule amount of money on the grand scale. If anything, the government should have been contributing to these organizations rather than helping to demolish them. Owing the bank is a different deal! there is no getting away from that. Perhaps if the government invested a tiny amount of money in our national youth, these organizations that struggle to provide a venue for our talented young people would not find themselves in these financial situations.... There certainly seems to be plenty of money for any amount of inane, pointless, non productive organizations..
  12. Loudest and most talented? Adam ..... of the East Coast Jazz in 2003
  13. All the best to you Phantom, I'm sure innovative and intelligent negotions will bring you through this temporary crisis.
  14. This thread is almost akin to "being the best ballerina in Galveston"
  15. By all means make sure you get out on christmas eve. As far as being a load of crap, perhaps you might consider that the amazing numbers that initially try out for Div I corps do not relegate themselves to div II corps when they are cut. They do not stay in the activity. Do you really think that regional corps could muster the interest week after week and finance these corps long enough to even last the season. I do not know how long you have been in volved in this activity, but a lot more inovative and practical schemes have been suggested over the years in order to "make things work" Perhaps you can set an example by having the Arizona regionals in Phoenix, we will go from there.!!
  16. You may as well enjoy what we have while it lasts! The trend will not be reversed, and it is not DCI's doing. Our society has changed, economics and school costs are a factor, but mainly,we are not the same country we were twenty years ago, where there was time for activities such as drum corp. This is not a doomsday opinion, but simply an observation as I see it. Our youth for the most part have moved on to other things.
  17. California is fine, and its about time the west coast gets the championships, but the Rose bowl is a horrible venue for drim corps. It seats 100,000, and is just that, a big bowl. another stadium would be much better.
  18. Just the announcement that ECJ may go Div I will funnel kids from the northeast area to the corp. I think it could happen. They have been around the block a few times, and their management knows what the haps are ....
  19. Great news ! Come back with a bang busters Bandettes. Really like those Berets/Tams that you wear.
  20. Boston appeared to have the largest guard,or one of the largest, seemed to be around 40. If they are going to place 11th, they might do well to trim the guard to 34, and increase the hornline and add some volume..
  21. According to my uncle, the Hyde Park Crusaders(now Boston) and the Blessed Sacrement Golden Knights were tougher than half of the gangs in the neighborhoods at that time. There is one story I'm not sure about, but it involved a parade when the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup. Apparently some drunks threw beer on the Crusaders, and several of the Crusaders ended upchasing them through the crowd swinging horns at their heads...
  22. The picture of the Velvet Knights in the whites with tails is classic
  23. This show was (I'm pretty sure in Kansas) Roman Blenski was helping to defleck some of the water jets, while being soaked himself. He did a great job....
  24. Several years ago when the sprinkler system activated on the entire field during the glassman's show. I believe it was in Kansas..
