  1. Honestly can't rememer my first show, but I would guess it was the G.L.D.C.A. show in St. Clair Shores Michigan in 69...that was traditionally the first show of the season in the circuit back in the day. Last show? 1981 DCI prelims at McGill University in Montreal....remember it like it was yesterday!!
  2. Even though my head and heart both tell me I'll hate this, I'll still try to give it my best shot to remain nuetral until I see it for myself. Now to drift OT back to the 5th Element stuff(sorry, I got here late)...... Gotta love Gary Oldman. One of the best closing lines ever: Oh ####. ^0^
  3. I hereby abstain from voting and resolve to just sit back and watch how the catfight....err...results turn out.
  4. It may not be the most ideal location in Cali, but I think think the Rose Bowl is far from being the worst stadium finals will ever have been held in. Olympic Stadium in Montreal will always hold that dubious honor(IMHO of course) with Jackson Miss. , and Cornell University in Ithica N.Y. running neck and neck for second place!.
  5. Yeh, I've tried a lot of different internet radio sevices over the years, and I've found Live 365 to be the best, at least for me. I can configure it to play right in Windows Media Player to take advantage of the equalizer and other effects, and the number of stations avaliable is incredible. I have the VIP membership, which lets me listen commercial-free at a very reasonable cost(about $5 a month) and gives me access to alot of special programming. Plus, as Dr. Jim said, it's totally legit and legal. Thanks Jim, for adding even more Drum Corps to the programming! There can never be enough!! :)
  6. Another great all-drum corps station on Live 365....Juniors, Seniors, 50s thru today. Diceman Radio
  7. WOW!!.... Developing a little attitude here lately, aren't ya my young brother??? :P *by the way, I like it!!*
  8. THIS is why I feel so honored to have been invited to march in this corps, and just the thought of putting that uniform on for the first time, well.........I can't say it here. Come on 07 !!(and the June camp when I get there!)
  9. As someone else who will be marching in this project, I just want to say that what you guys are trying to do is a fantastic and noble gesture! It truly shows how the "spirit of drum corps brotherhood(and sisterhood!)" lives on!! *oh, and uh....I can put names in my uni too ya know! :P * *edditted bekaus I kant spel rite*
  10. We had always heard about the Blue Notes from some of the Michigan corps we competed against regularly, but never actually ran across them until mid-1975. At the time, in our local curcuit, it was quite the showdown, We had only lost 1 G.L.D.C.A. show in three years, and now these "interlopers" were going to try to move in on our turf. They had one H### of a hornline, but our drumline saved the day for us and we won the show. I met quite a few members of their corps that night after the show(they stayed at the same school as us) and they were all really nice folks. A friendship could have easily developed between the two corps, but we never competed against each other again. I used to follow thier scores in Drum Corps News........Good Corps!!!!!
  11. I guess it was better................if your definition of "better" is not being able to hear the hornline over the pit! ^0^ :P
  12. The two go hand in hand.Alot of people look at mis-conduct, or bad behavior, especially in uniform, as unsportsman-like.
  13. Since it will be the site of the return of the Anaheim Kingsmen, I love the place!! :)
  14. Nice Photoshoppin' there Argo.......... :sshh: Some of the other fellas better take a real close look at that photo!!
  15. Looks like maybe 74 to me..............Cavies, Phantom,Muchachos, De Lasalle, Troopers and Kilties. Looks like a good show....where was it?
  16. What He Said!Except I think I would switch the two Garfield years.....83 was the show that, for good or bad, changed the face of the activity forever. Simply amazing to have seen in person!
  17. I suppose I would like to see G.E. in the 20-30% range with execution having more weight than it currently does. As you said, split between severajudges and captions to arrive at an average, similar to the way it used to be done.(I know...I'm a dinosaur, and D### proud of it!!!LOL)
  18. I speaking more towards AFTEr the creation of DCI and the "standardized" judging. Very true...previous to that, just about every night you could run across a different set of sheets depending on who the show was sanctioned by, what circuit etc... truly a nightmare sometimes! And yes, the M.A.(music analysis) and Exposure to error captions were buildups. but they were also only a fraction of the overall score. M.A. was only 2 points of the Brass caption if I remember correctly.
