  1. Just heart-breaking... Rest in Peace, mello brother....
  2. I have to extend the greatest thanks to the CorpsVets for allowing us to perform a standstill for them. It was wonderful of the gang from Gulf Coast Sound to join in and perform their show for all of us! I was so happy to see them progress and grow. It was the first time we performed for a group of people as champions. We found out the night before after prelims that we had captured high brass, and for the trials and struggles we went through in our second year of existance - and first on the field - it was a wonderful feeling. I have to admire the competitiveness and quality of other Class A corps that performed - they showed gumption, creativity and spirit. While some may have overlooked us, we certainly noticed that together, all those corps made Class A - and DCA - a whole new ballgame. Back to the CorpsVets - they treated us to something I will never forget after finals - Georgia at point-blank range!! What a sound - and what a memory. Definitely one of the biggest highlights of the weekend - and something that will stay with me for a long time... The bond formed between us is so strong, and I hope that as we grow - and hopefully take the field in open class next year, our friendship and camraderie is never severed, splintered or broken. Sometimes, a lot of petty things can make our groups adversarial - but together, we are an art form, a kinship of performers, and a way of life. What we do together to advance the activity is so much more important than how we are different. It's a great time for us to grow and flourish. Bring on 2006!
  3. Thank you Matt!!! We cannot forget our color guard and percussion which really stepped it up from July. The guard basically had to learn a whole new show in August! We (the horns) have been doing the same music and drill since March. I guarantee you that had our guard had the chances we did, they would have done better than the hornline. Big ups to them and all corps who participated and made the show great!! No hard feelings here on not making it in, because the standard of excellence set by our competitors made being a part of it worth it!! DO not miss this show tonight if you live in NE PA - you will regret it - what an amazing lineup of talent!!!! On to 2006!!
  4. I, for one, can't wait to visit this "prediction" thread next week. :P I have only seen 3 open class senior corps this year, and therefore cannot make any certain qualified prediction on the exact placement, but it is fun to do, even if one has no idea who will really do what. I know Reading has good shot to win Open Class - and that's about it. I did like the CorpsVets show in Rockmart - awesome stuff and you guys will deserve your single-digit open class placement - can't wait to party with you guys this weekend... Kilties also impressed me in Racine with selling their show - you can feel the pride they put into it.... Best of luck to our fellow Class A competitors - I hope our common goal should be to display the further evolution of DCA into a competitive, entertaining dual-class show. The growth is very exciting and the better we all do - the better for the activity. Let's compete in a positive spirit - with no ill will, but only goodwill towards one another....I'd rather compete like that - or not at all. As for us - after all the new work (especially guard) we have done over the past 6 weeks, I can't see us sitting in the stands on Sunday...I just can't. We are light-years beyond early season. I don't mean to be a homer - but we have come so, so far since our last show in Jackson at the end of July. No one has seen this show yet - even if you have seen it. What a few people (including judges) have seen before was about 75% of our full show. After running through it a few times today (after a weekend of tough cleaning) - the sheer excitement - the sound - the motion - everything - I just felt the biggest rush going through me in the end. It rivaled my junior corps performing experiences. Judges - scores aside - this program is awesome to hear, march and play and I thank the staff for giving us this treasure chest of art to share with everyone this weekend. If they can feel what I do - what everyone in the corps felt this past weekend, the fans are going to have a ball in Scranton. See you soon - and let's have fun!!
  5. I have to be a good boy and settle for hamburger buns and soda. :sshh: :sshh: I won't let Ed corrupt me......nope - not gonna do it....
  6. Either that or an entrant in the Kentucky Derby... Wait a minute..... something's really wrong there..
  7. OMG that was the funniest shizznit ever...I loved that skit...
  8. They all suck..... Got ya! LOL I voted for Impact - very cool power representation. Here are some of mine: 1) Golden Lancers 2) Legionnaires 3) Mighty Red Brigade 4) Brass Armada 5) Paladins 6) Sonic Force 7) St. Louis Charlatans or Sentinels 8) Black Rangers 9) Covenant Here are some not too serious (and not recommended) names: 1) Bell Bottoms 2) Mauve Knights 3) Latrine 4) Honkin' and Stompin' 5) Esoteric Grey 6) Idiot Squad 7) Dot Watchers 8) Green Gelatin and 2 of my FDCI corps: 9) Hack Masters 10) Pooper Troopers :)
  9. It seems like we have 15 sets (and subsets) of drill in about 45 seconds. I have to compare it to hornets buzzing madly around a nest that has been shaken 4 or five times. Plus we are at 172 (or close to it) - and playing a flurry of runs. No sweat boss - bring on Scranton.
  10. Wow - 168 (weighed today) is obese? Anyway - you're not worth an insult or comeback - but maybe a closing of this thread and a stiff warning from the mods about personal attacks.
  11. Way to go RAMD hound, I'm happy to see you made it on here - oh wait No I'm not...
  12. If gas wasn't $25.00 a gallon, more corps could have afforded to show up. Thank your government this time....
  13. A very questionable score with them and Capital Sound separated by four points when DB actually beat them in a recent show.... I'm interested in seeing the recaps to see what the judges were thinking, or for penalties.
  14. Waahh - you got me... 1) The Holy Name Garfield Cadets of Bergen County presented by YEA! - 98.95 2) Phantom Regiment of Rockford and formerly Love's Park, but now just Rockford - 97.8 3) Green Machine - 97.55 4) The Bluecoats, NOT Booocoats - 95.35 5) Blue Devils avant guarde bourgois a la Sprockets - 95.10 6) Madison Scouts and one hot Carmen - 94.40 7) Carolina Crown and a bunch of angels- 94.25 8) Santa Clara Vanguard - 92.8 (with 2003's visual scores, they would win it this year) 9) Boston Crusaders - 91.5 10) Blue Knights - 90.2 11) Glassmen - 88.75 12) Colts - 87.65 12) Crossmen (come on- it's been a while since we had a tie!!!)
  15. I think Bluecoats have the momentum, and BD has made it clear that they aren't changing much about a show I have heard some disappointing things about. Surges usually happen finals week. It happened with Phantom in 96, Madison in 88 and Crown last year. I do see that this year's surging corps has to be Bluecoats. They are due to establish themselves as one of the elite corps DCI. Since 2000, they have been in the fight the whole way - and that foundation will drive them to their first title sometime in the next 5 years.
  16. Cool beans!! Bring your G bugle, sticks or other gear - and about 10 friends!!! See you in November!
  17. 8? hahhaa Umm okay - looked like more than that to me - but what do I know....
  18. The forecasted high that day is only 85. I think we can handle that better than the 100-whatever it was last year..
  19. This is 100% correct. We finished learning the drill except for the last 30 seconds today (the finale section - which is drill drill drill). We already had half the song in the bag previously, but it was not ready for the field just yet. Believe me - it is ready to go now and we can't wait to let it loose in Rockmart.
  20. Hooray - my boys are back! Phantom Brigade - FDCI Div I Hack Masters - FDCI Div II (Season 18 finalists) Pooper Troopers - FDCI Div III (Season 18 Finalists)
  21. 1976 BLUE DEVILS!!!!!! 1978 Phantom Regiment 1975 Madison Scouts
  22. 1991 Star of Indiana 1992 Velvet Knights 1999 Santa Clara Vanguard
  23. 1980 Spirit of Atlanta 1989 Phantom Regiment 1985 Madison Scouts
  24. That guy from Dutch Boy was none other than Dave "Antman" McPhee, who is now on the Bluecoats Brass Staff. Best Baritone triller I've ever heard, and he later went on to march Blue Devils in 1991, from what I understand....
