  1. If there were actual news coming out about the show I'm sure we'd be talking about it. I'm dying to talk about The Cadets show. Unfortunately all I know is what I've been slowly fed by staff and some vague rehearsal observations made by people here. Plus, I'd much rather read a devolving thread originated by hats the snare line was wearing versus the BS we were dealing with last year.
  2. Looks like it's going back to the previous style. I'm really curious to see this full uniform in color. It's been said the outer fabric is somewhat reflective and sounds like could be a really cool effect on the field. These teases are killing me, though.
  3. Be lucky I won't be at the Metlife show, or you'd be leaving with a broken LED hat. 😉 And hopefully I'd be lucky enough to get a head start running away!
  4. I found a photo from 2012 where the snare line is wearing the Red Sox hats. Also found several years with the tenors wearing Braves hats. Not sure what changed or why, but it looks like it's been a thing at least since then.
  5. I'm pretty sure they did. One of the reasons as that I'm a Red Sox fan and I was wondering to myself why they were all wearing Red Sox hats (not that I was objecting haha). I would say it's somewhere along the lines as to why the drumline all wears the same shorts. This year the tenors are all wearing Braves hats. Side note: My son's t-ball team this year was the Yankees. They also get their end of season trophies at a game for one of the Yankees' farm teams. I guess my old age is starting to show because if I were younger I would have acted as his agent and requested a trade haha.
  6. If so, I'd be pretty surprised. I would say based on past years, many of the alums/fans don't have huge expectations other than a lot of improvement. If anything I'd say most are underrating the corps, including the alums/fans. I think there's a corps a bit farther north that has championship expectations that may/may not be warranted. I'm incredibly excited for this year in drum corps because I think the top 6 corps (at least) are all going to be absolutely incredible.
  7. As with every change in drum corps, they usually go bonkers with a new idea and then bring it back. I think 2018 was the bonkers year. SO FAR, it looks like they are bringing it back a little but it is still very early. I'm sure there will be several corps that will be completely head scratching choices.
  8. With the level of body movement that corps have to do, I'd be shocked if those helmets weren't fitted well.
  9. Rumor has it after they I heard from a source that the two hidden snares were found and spoke one word.....
  10. Madison 2018 anyone? BTW I'm a fan of Boston's look this year.
  11. Just once I want to hear them shout "I AM GROOT!"
  12. There are drawings of Goliath with that style helmet, factual or not.
  13. Sorry I have an opinion different from yours. I definitely won't tell you to ##### off, though. At least I give actual reasons for not liking something. And trust me, Will Pitts could give a #### what I or anyone else here has to say. In the end, he has the job and we don't. So what if I'm not a fan of his brass book? Some of the best writers of all time have had their critics and Will is no different. He doesn't need to be shielded by his critics because I'm sure his skin is plenty thick enough. Could I change my opinion of the book in a few weeks? Absolutely. At this moment in time, I based my opinion on what I heard and not rumor. Anyway, I respect your opinion and best of luck to the members of Phantom Regiment.
  14. Those are sooooo much better than the ones from last year. I really like them.
  15. I'm dying for some Cadets news! I need my drum corps fix haha.
  16. Perhaps it's music from the British Invasion?
  17. I was speaking in generalities mostly. I will say that last year's ballad of NWS felt like almost a full rewrite and I did not care for it. As for this year, I would say it was more about the liberties that were taken. I understand that a lot of corps do that, but when it is a classical masterpiece it seems a bit more blatant. I feel like FoEG is fine just the way it is. I didn't care for splitting it up with a drum break. Also the mellophone solo was a callback of Carmina Burana but chose to end it on a different note (I don't understand why it couldn't have resolved the same way- that small moment reminds me a lot of what was done last year with NWS. Why change that melody?). I totally understand wanting to reinvent yourself, I just don't like the way the creative team is choosing to do it. There are certain things where it seems like they are trying to fix something that isn't broken. They are a classical corps and the classical pieces they are doing are incredible. With this creative team, the liberties that they have chosen to take just rub me the wrong way. If you are encouraged, then I am in no way going to persuade you otherwise. I know my opinion is just that. I do hope for the best for them and hope for a successful year.
  18. I understand arranging a piece you may want to change things, but I have a big issue when the piece is arranged in a way that it's barely recognizable. This isn't solely a PR thing, but they seem to be the biggest culprits these last few years (with no blame on the members). There's nothing wrong with the originals, so why approach them in a "I believe I can write it better" philosophy? I was really hoping they weren't going to do a "We are Joan!" It just seems too cliche for my taste. As for the performance, the horn line sounds very young. It concerns me that there are some struggles during a stand still. Those things are only going to get worse on the move. I really, really hope they can pull this show off, but I am very concerned for them. Feel free to rip my opinions to shreds. PR was the first drum corps show I ever saw and I've been fond of them ever since. I really want this corps to be at the top, but I just don't see that happening right now. A LOT of work needs to be done, and not just from the members.
  19. I love that look for Phantom, but I really hope they keep the dark look throughout most of the show. I definitely do not hate the khaki change but just love the black Phantom look.... with the helmets!
  20. I think there's only one function for those.... impaling. If I were a judge this year, I'd be very generous with their placement.
  21. OF COURSE THEY ARE!! I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a show without knowing the story line, see a well timed lunge and know immediately it's about the trials and tribulations of Confucius. ....duh. 😉
