In one word....YES In more words....WGI has a huge influence!

Granny....I agree with your sentiments, but I also think that ALL of the 'uniforms' are costumey anymore! They ceased being 'uniforms' a long time ago.

I am sure I am the first one to say this, but....There were some interesting / funky / strange / ugly / 'colorful' uniforms between the late 70's and early 90's! -

Someone had mentioned that you can subtract about 20 points from the OC score to get the WC score....pretty close! -

Go sneak a $20 into the hand of the tabulators! -
Are they not announcing scores as the show goes on this year? I didn't think I would like Raiders tarp, but being smaller, it helped focus the eyes on them in a smaller area - they didn't get 'lost' or try to use too much of the field. Music City has a nice sound.....Other than the pre-recorded stuff, but that is personal opinion.

Who Was THE BEST All-Girl Corps EVER?
ajedrummer replied to KeithHall's topic in Historical Junior Corps Discussions
Saw that the Belle's of St. Mary's were added - glad to see. When a few of their members came to march Wausau Story in 78, I had the pleasure of marching next to a great girl who was not only cute, but was one hell of a snare drummer! But Capitolaires get my vote - if nothing else, they were the best AG uniforms ever!! -
Yes, exactly. I found an old Magnum harness on ebay that had the hooks that fit in the angle adjustment bar from the sling that was on my early 80's vintage Ludwig Challenger. Look for Magnum, Impact or old style Ludwig and Slingerland harnesses. They all worked that way. I really like the Magnum and was glad I found it. Used one in the Buccaneers in '83 and it is MUCH lighter and more comfortable than those others I mentioned and used. I bought another one previously (maybe XL?) but it was too short for me, may have been a student model, so I sold it.

I remember competing against the Midshipmen! Our 'corps clown' discovered that if you held your tongue when saying 'Midshipmen', it came out a bit differently! Don't ask me how I recall, this, but I guess it is silliness of youth! Heck, I cant remember what I had for dinner last night, but I can remember that!! As for me, I too marched in a show before I saw one because we competed in our first show in 1972 in the St. Mathias (Cadets) church parking lot in Milwaukee. Being a new corps, we went on first. THEN I saw my first show! Again, for some reason, I remember the Windjammers, Crusader Gladiators, St. Mathias Cadets were there and maybe the Sundowners plus a few more I don't recall. I do remember being thrilled that we did not come in last in our first show - we beat the Crusader Gladiators. The corps that made the biggest impression on me; we went to the first DCI in Whitewater that year and while every single one blew me away, Anaheim Kingsmen became my favorite and stayed that way! We almost beat them at DCI Midwest in 1976 (they were 10th, we were 11th - the last year they only took 10 in finals)...that would have been bittersweet as they were my idols! jim P.S. You are all saying 'Midshipmen' while holding your tongue, aren't you??!!

I was wondering if you maybe did the diagonal since it is a square format camera (126 cartridge camera if I recall) and that would give you a bit more width? That old hypotenuse of the triangle thing. Great photos regardless! I never saw and don't recall the Regiment Militaire at all. Thanks for posting! -
I have lost touch with Terry, but he moved from Milwaukee to Wausau in 1975 or so and was with Wausau Story through 1979. I marched under his instruction for many years. His company, Impact Industries made drums and other marching items, primarily sold through McCormick's in Chicago, but then broadened their distribution. MANY Wausau Story people worked for Terry during the summer! I heard he sold the business and retired a number of years ago, but do not know any details. As far as I know, he is still in the Wausau area.

Interesting uniform!! Wonder how they march in those shoes?? -
As a Buccaneer alum, my hat is off to MBI! You have 'brought it' for many years, and while I was not there it sounds like you really did it up tonight! Congrats to my old Wausau Story friends who have been a part of that organization for many years! Also...Congrats to the Buccaneers who set records in DCA that will stand for a LONG time!!

Like and Dislike!! I am a Buc's alum (and annual Scrapplefest participant), but also have friends from my Wausau Story days back in the 70's who either still march with or have strong ties to MBI. IF the Buc's championship streak is over, I am glad it is Minnesota Brass! Kudo's to both corps for bringing it all this weekend!

I have not read the whole thread, but given that there is a 2.5 point spread between Spirit and Glassmen, what exactly is the purpose of the show tomorrow night? Oh yeah....$$$$$$

Hey Tish! I was going to guess Americanos - glad you jumped in. Is MB going to give Buc's a run for the title this year? Jim
