  1. Plenty of ways. Cavies are struggling with the drill and the white in their uniform makes the drill problems stand out a lot more than BD's dark unis. That's what's hurting them the most. Cavies musical book and performance were EXCELLENT tonight.... but Devils just flat out played the snot out of their show. So yes it is possible for Blue Devils to beat Cavies at this point in the season. By the time we get to Pasadena that might change, it might not.
  2. Hmmm.... i guess they're not gonna let us see the encore. :(
  3. Not a fan of the new "America". Bring back the old one.
  4. The scores... All-Age Division Kilties - 66.363 Div III Memphis Sound - 66.500 Div II Colt Cadets - 57.700 Div I Troopers - 68.200 Cascades - 69.050 Glassmen - 73.600 Bluecoats - 80.900 Cavaliers - 81.900 Blue Devils - 82.150
  5. OMG look at all the BLUE on the field as Blue Devils and Bluecoats set up for the finale! Hmmm... they DO look a lot alike! :P
  6. The overall quality of view and sound on the webcast has improved immensely in my opinion since last year. But I always keep in mind that 10 years ago (or earlier) we would have KILLED to be able to see any DCI shows live in this manner... or listen to audio recordings online not long after the show. The internet is truly awesome!
  7. Yeah, there were some friggin cool visual developments out there most definitely. I was here in my house yelling "F***ing COOL"! LOL!
  8. That was FAR from a "pedestrian drill" my friend. BD, Cavies and Bluecoats are all doing some extremely demanding drill. Dev's drill is just as demanding as Cavies at least.
  9. Ok, I totally get Blue Devils show. Without knowing anything about the actual theme of the show it is obviously meant to be a tribute to Blue Devils history. DCI Championships are finally going to be on the west coast and I bet BD is taking this opportunity to reach out to BD alumni and fans through the years. There are a lot of classic Blue Devils elements musically and visually. The guard wings at the beginning and the end are a huge nod to the Devils glory days of the 1980's. The ending is probably still in development as it did lack some "umph" though. Can't wait to see what happens! There were a lot of moments where they acknowledged some BD history and it made me tear up a little and feel nostalgic. Incredible work, Blue Devils. Wayne, this could be some of your most gorgeous writing yet. 1st place - Blue Devils 2nd place - Cavaliers 3rd place - Bluecoats Missed most of Glassmen's show and all the rest.
  10. Not well. :( Hovering around 15th place in the standings... at least the last time I checked.
  11. Bluecoats..... CONTRAS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Geez those guys can play! Guard work still not finished at the end obviously and using temp flags. Best Bluecoats ever. Strength = Brass performance Weakness = Visual composition ... that's just off the top of my head.
  12. Cavies.... WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!!! The most beautiful, incredible, fluid drill I've ever seen!!! Strength = Music performance Weakness = Visual execution (Contras had a lot of problems marching tonight) Let's see if the judges agree. I LOVE THIS SHOW!
  13. Same here and still nothing. It worked for a while then "poof" it's gone. I was automatically logged out of the dci website. So I logged back in. Tried it again with two different browsers (Mozilla and IE) and still nothing. Re-booted the computer and nothing. I wonder if this is just a PC problem and Mac users are fine? Edit... ok, just got back on and it's working again.
  14. This is sheer awesomeness. (got a tear in my eye) Good luck this year, VK and Academy.
  15. And for VK because of this setback. I hope the truck fire doesn't hurt them too badly. Was it their own truck or a rental? (Hopefully a rental)
  16. Don't worry. I think the Scouts and Blue Stars have the potential to move up in the rankings as the summer progresses.
  17. If a corps has just learned it's closer drill a day or two before a show but they are falling all over each other on the field, it is stupid for them to go ahead and try to hash it out in a performance. Practicing (or performing) something the wrong way only reinforces doing it the wrong way and is counter productive. It also makes you look MORE like a fool on the field than if you decide to stand still through the end of the show. You will also get a bunch of negative reviews on DCP from people saying, "but man their closer drill was SO dirty and they had people running into each other" then people will say "then why didn't they just stand still at the end and then put in the closer drill at the next show". But that just makes too much sense. It's friggin July 17th, people. I'd like to see YOU go out there and try to play some the music and march the drill that these kids in DCI are doing then see how easy it is to have it all on the field ready to go in mid June.
  18. In the early season, usually the first couple of weeks, judges are usually lenient on this matter because many corps have incomplete shows this time of year. Drill isn't finished, guard work isn't finished, etc. Quite often the judges are told specifically NOT to penalize a corps because their show is not finished. They judge what the corps give them. This is also practiced in many marching band circuits. In a couple of weeks the judges WILL begin to rank and rate corps lower if they still have an incomplete show.
  19. This should be in the All-Age Corps Announcements forum.
