  1. Drum Corps isn't pedestrian enough to be mainstream. Maybe someday, when it starts to suck............
  2. I am going to offer an opinion, and it is not going to be a popular one. There is simply no large scale market AND/OR interest in drum corps. People are always trying to be, like........since WE think it's cool, why doesn't the world? What do we have to do to make drum corps "mainstream"? Mainstream, like Lady Gaga? Eminem? Def Leppard? Etc? Forget it. Won't happen, and I wouldn't want it to. Drum corps is simply too cerebral, too substantive to be accepted or embraced by our double digit IQ Happy meal chomping Survivor watching lowbrow American public. Ever notice that most Metropolitan symphonies only exist thanks to private contributions from wealthy concertgoers? That the general public in NO way would contribute enough money to keep them alive? But some dopehead can spank out a rap video and make millions? Sorry guys..........the things that make drum corps great are the same things that will assure that it will NEVER become "mainstream". And if it DID become "mainstream", what in God's name would that mean for the activity from a creative standpoint? Cause I'll tell you RIGHT now, I ain't marching to no god ###### Lady Gaga songs.
  3. Nothing makes me happier than when I read love for our Tommy show on here in this day and age............boy did I love performing that show!
  4. Matter of opinion, my friend.......matter of opinion :)
  5. No offense to anyone who WAS working with SCV, but it'd be great if they could assemble a staff with people who know how to/have won DCI before...
  6. One can almost set your watch to threads/questions revived about the 89 Blue Devils soloist frack...........Guess we'll never live it down!
  7. Another thing I did not like about the jumbotron clips was when we were marching onto the field at Finals, they were playing excerpts from our Semis performance, instead of just letting our Finals performance unfold. Kind of like sitting in a poker match with my hand displayed on the monitors above.
  8. Favorite Moment: Discovering Five Guys Burgers and Fries right across the street from our hotel. Then....finding a Five Guys franchise right here in San Jose!
  9. Seems like a cool concept. I have no idea what that sounds like
  10. Still waiting for the picture of Tom wearing a straw hat, tacky Hawaiian shirt with cocktail in hand! Or, since he went to Seattle...................a rain slicker??
  11. Yeah. Gee, thanks. Way to contribute. Peak or no peak, 2007 Bluecoats were hands down my FAVORITE show that year, and I was at the Rose Bowl for Finals. Yes, I was indeed a proud BD alum and thought they deserved to win that night, but Bluecoats just rocked my world that year. Rocked my world THIS year too. BLOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. I'm sure they would, or at least those members of corps who's images MADE it to the video screen. I'm talking about, of course, the video montage shown after the performances as a prelude to scores and placement that had at LEAST images of all the Open Class finalists EXCEPT the Renegades. Now, I'm not suggesting that we were deliberately excluded, or someone's "sending us a message" or anything quite as ludicrous as that, but we were overlooked and I find that quite unfortunate. Like that scene in Goodfellas when Spider forgets to bring Pesci's character his drink and Pesci's, like, "What am I, a mirage??" Upsetting. NOT deliberate. Just upsetting.
  13. DCP, I have just been informed by the DCP Moderation Team that this person has already been banned from DCP. Since this is now a moot issue, there is no longer a need for this thread. I thank you for your attention, and now ask that this thread be closed. Have a Wonderful Day!
  14. Hello, DCP. Some of you may have read the posts of, or heard of a person posting on DCP by the handle of "Art Bell". This person has been not only making inflammatory posts, but has also been sending PMs to people on DCP. His core agenda seems to be centered around creating angst regarding the Renegades, and/or our competitive outcome at the 2010 DCA World Championships. He has, SUCCESSFULLY, hijacked the "Renegades 10th Screwed (forget the exact title)" thread creating the illusion that Renegades were running around shooting off their mouths about getting "screwed" and what not, and actually got some of you to believe him and respond negatively to the Renegades organization. He has also been planting seeds in various threads also seemingly with the ultimate goal of making the Renegades look bad, and to fan the flames of pre-existing anti-Renegade sentiment. This person is, I suspect, either a disgruntled ex member of our corps, or someone with either a mental deficiency or just way too much time on his hands. I would ask all of you in the DCP community not to lend any weight or credibility to anything said by this poster re: ANYTHING to do with the Renegades. He is NOT with us, does NOT speak for us, and I would urge you all not to believe a word he says. Thank you for your time. Regards, Rich G. Skare, Esq. P.S. Moderators, this guy is really stirring up trouble BEHINDS the scenes as well via PMs, as well as causing unneccesary friction in the public forums. I have taken GREAT PAINS to structure this general warning in such a way as to NOT cross any lines regarding personal attacks against fellow DCP members. PLEASE do NOT delete this thread.
  15. LOL! One thing is for sure.....you guys are REALLY good at doing Oz!
  16. There are exceptions to every rule. Congratulations for having/exhibiting the talent and leadership to assert yourself into your role as DM for two VERY successful seasons at Blue Stars.
  17. This person is only trying to create the illusion that Renegades are in here #####ing about this, that and the other..........and has successfully got some of you to respond to his words as if they are true. They are NOT, Art Bell does NOT speak for us, and unless you have actually heard something FROM a Renegade don't believe it. We all had a great time and consider our finals performance and our season a success.
  18. This......PERSON.....certainly doesn't speak for any of us. I've seen him stir up the pot before, certainly our members have more class than to run around saying "FU" to DCA. Yes, we were stunned at our placement, I was too. However, I have not seen the Bushwackers and as such I cannot comment on whether or not we were "screwed", therefore I find it a useless subject. Everyone else I saw (CorpsVets on up) had great shows and kicked ###. Congratulations to ALL corps who competed and put their 2010 programs on the table, the audience loved every single one of us, and they showed us too. We all accomplished our goals. But please don't let this troll put words in our mouths.
  19. I agree. Rochester is/has been a great host to our championships, a fun place to visit, and I have enjoyed all 5 DCAs I have marched in there.
  20. 1. somebody else 2. somebody else 3. somebody else 4. somebody else 5. somebody else 6. somebody else 7. somebody else 8. somebody else 9. somebody else 10. Renegades. (ok..................vent over)
  21. Certainly there is a difference between rookie to a certain corps, and being a rookie to drum corps overall. That, and some people just have a natural ability to lead. (Still prefer a veteran DM though...)
  22. I picked Veteran Member. A Drum Major is a leader in an organization, and when leadership has already been exhibited by a veteran member who is looked up to and commands respect, that person is in a much better position to command the respect of an entire corps as opposed to a rookie that is going thru for the first time what life in that organization is like. I'd expect that to be an awkward position from which to provide leadership to members who have had more years as a part of the organization.
